well reason i ask is because the now deceased Rover motor company over here used the same 4.6 V8 engine in one of there models but that only produced 240bhp i think
it has been increasing in power since it interduction so who know in a couple years and if they put 400hp they woudnt be able to sell as many shelbys. roush and steeda and saleen would bump the power up another hundred so that would also take away from shelby sales

They wanted to build a performance car and keep the cost down. and 300HP ended up being the majic number.
To get another 100 horses would have added at least 2 grand or more to the car.
They decided to make the car a sellable price point and let those with time and money pump up the horsepower - AND - it left room to validate the Shelby and SVT versions to have a sellable item.
If they give that thing 400+ horses today, then next year they would have to out-do that! Its been a trend of GRADUAL increases as time goes by, and they've got about 5 more years of increases to go before they force themselves into a 351 instead of the 281 - thats my guess. And of course it keeps the costs down - for now Give it 5 years, and at 400+ hp do you think it will be the Amrican Muscle Car that it is - and still under $30K?
300 HORSES? Are you joking......these cars are under rated for insurance purposes. I dynoed mine stock the other day and it was putting down 378 hp and 402 ft lbs at the wheels!!!!
Damn that was a nice dream.
