They're both good systems. The 360 has better online gaming (for a price), but they tend to suffer from hardware failure (more than normally acceptable) that requires you to send in your unit for replacement, leaving you with nothing for a few weeks.
PS3's online gaming isn't as good, but it's free. Also, they are very reliable. Keep in mind the 40GB ones have no PS2 game compatability.

I own both and now that my 360 destroyed my Halo 3 disk theres really no reason for me to keep playing it
the PS3 is by far a more complete package, in includes more features and support for high end home theather systems, HDMI 1.3, better audio codecs, Blu-ray, wireless networking,
now on to the games, the PS3 is having a great year, namely with GT5:P, MGS4, then theres the non exclusives GTA:IV, Burnout Paradise, COD4, Devil May Cry 4, NFS: Prostreet
then the release of Dualshock 3, great news since force feedback is a nice aspect of gameplay(until you play without it you realize how much its needed)
There is a new 80gb ps3 coming out cause the first 80gb that came out had some issues. i think its coming back out in June not sure so if you want you can wait till the 80gb comes out or buy a 40gb but that one wont play ps2 games and doesnt have as many features as the 80gb one has

86, I saw gt5:p when I was getting gta4, what is that? It that THE gran turismo 5, or some type of pre-release to get more money out of us?
its definatly worth the 40 bucks, its kinda of a WIP GT5 to show us what they've been working on, its VERY well polished, its definatly a more complete game compared to ridge racer 7 or any other racing game for the PS3
they have mostly finished the game engine, and the physics save for a few tweaks, and it has online gameplay, all thats left is to add the rest of the cars and tracks, I have all the gran tuismo games, and am a fan of the series so to me it was a good buy
plus the fact it looks fuking amazing on a 40" samsung 1080p LCD

40gb only has 2 controllers instead of 4

that is complete bullsh*t. i've played mine with 4 controllers many times. what you meant to say is that it has 2 USB ports, so you can only CHARGE two contollers at a time.
i voted PS3, because like 86 5.0L said, it's a very complete package IF you have a true hd tv (1080p). blu-ray is the new format, so you're basically getting one of the best blu-ray players on the market, a good game system with good online play (i've had no problems whatsover with it), and many other multimedia functions.
one more thing, GT5P is a very good game. even though it's not the complete version, it has way more to offer than most full racing games on the market.

360...from what I heard, they fixed issues with the ring of death on newer consoles... Keep it well ventilated and don't play it for 6 hours at a time, and you should be good.
**** games for the ps3..as well as a ****ty controller
Yes, the ps3 has some good games, but the 360 rapes sony in that department...they did prev gen too- there are other good games out there that the 360 has, but sony doesn't.
