The front grill is definately not like my '05 Saleen. Mine's not honeycomb and there is no pony car emblem in the front. Anyone else notice anything? and why would a dealer try to pass off a knock-off
I get the imprssion they are marketing it as a GT with some "exclusive" Saleen mods. Its defeinitely not an original Saleen as I thought all interiors were charcoal. That is clearly a GT with IUP. No bullit shifter, no saleen front end etc..... And they quote 300 GT HP, so I don't think they are selling it as a true Saleen, rather a Saleen GT. My question is this - why go to the trouble to put the rear facia on and NOT the front?!?!?!
Dealer did a pretty crappy job installing the rear facia too - check out the gap between the upper extensions and the bumper [&:]
I have found a few things wrong. 1) They listed the hp as 300, if it is a real S281 it would be 325. 2) The car has stock gt seats. 3) The car still wears gt badges. 4) There are no Saleen decals or identification on the car. 5) The price is listed basicly as a 'gt' price. 5) They appear to be hiding certain pics of the car that would show off it's Saleen status. -ie, no pics of the dash. -No pics of the engine. -No pics of the bumper #. 6) The dealer selling the car is Town East Ford in Mesquite Tx. They are not a Saleen dealer. I tried to call Town East Ford and bust their balls on this car, but they are closed Sundays. I will do so Monday. This is definitly not a real Saleen.

Don't bust their balls too much - unless of course they try to tell you it is the real deal. Again, I don't think they are trying to fool anybody. I think they are just trying to say get the Saleen looks at a GT price. But IMO, they are a LONG way off from even getting the look!!
I talked to the dealer that has that car today. It is not a Saleen, it was supposedly a gt that the dealership owner had 'Saleenized' minus the Saleen front. It has Saleen suspension, they claim, but no motor upgrades. They also said the front wasn't upgraded by the dealer because he thought the gt front looked better. Somehow the dealer owner had an 'in' with Saleen, and was able to get the Saleen stuff to upgrade the gt. They said they were asking 41k for it. Since they weren't trying to pass the car off as a real Saleen, that's ok. They want Saleen like $ for a car that isn't a Saleen. They salesman I talked to was very quick to point out that it wasn't a real Saleen, so they are ok in my book.

Well its good to know they weren't trying to pass it off as the real deal, but $41K is rediculous considering I got my real S281 (which stickers for just under $45K) for $41K!! Somebody should tell him to dream on. I wouldn't offer more than $32-33K for it. And that might be high yet!
