I just bought this Great Neck Orbital Buffer before i use it i want to make sure it is a good one to use as i am only 17 and have never used one before and really have no idea what to do exactly. I just want to make my car to look as Shiny, reflective and like glossy wet as possible with as little work as possible. my car is a 2007 in satin silver the products i already have and use in this order are.
what do you recommend i use to achieve the look i want and in the cheapest possible way. and lastly will the orbital polisher make a noticable difference in the car when i am done with it compared to doing it with my hand.
Satin silver is a color that's tough to get to look wet and glossy. FYI: You can't use "as little work as possible" and glossy wet look in the same sentence.
I clay first, then Hi Tech yellow with a buffer and finish with NXT spray or Ice.

what kind of buffer are you talking about? just a polisher for waxing or a heavy duty beast you use for buffing out paint - wetsanding, then buffing to a mirror finish(get rid of most/all the factory orange peel)......
glossy primer...hmmm....i don't think silver is a very good color for that type of finish - it will look good, but pry won't pop as much as all that work would on a dif color...my bet is that if you used rubbing compound (by hand) or did the clay bar and waxed, it would look pretty good...i've only used a HD buffer for after painting cars...i have an orbital polisher for waxing, but never use it - i just do it by hand

I have a low speed buffer too and its ok but for our cars its kind of overkill IMO I have used it 1 time but find it in the way most of the time good on flat parts like the top of the car just watch out for the lips and edges don't hit them to hard or long. you'll find out that it is just as easy to hand rub it as use it. Remember fiber cloth can not scratch good for wax removeal too.
so would it make more sense to exchange the buffer for a clay bar. because the buffer was only $20. Because i wont notice a huge difference between hand and buffer?
Def clay bar it. After you clay bar the stang though it feels soooo smooth its unbelievable. I have a Porter Cable and used it for first time last week. It takes little while to get used to but I have never buffed by hand before.

if it was only 20 bux, it's pry just for waxing...you could pry do a better job by hand...bet it's one of the ones that says it's 1300 rpm or something like that - it's not...i have a real "buffer" that's adjustable from 1000-5000 rpm for actually buffing out paint...so, i'd say, do the clay bar (i have not done it, but have heard good things) in a dif thread, i talked about messing with my mom's paint with rubbing compound - that is SUPER smooth and looks amazing...think i'm gonna hafta do it to my stang now - felt like glass
