Just reading up on the challenger. Their V6 is smaller than ours at 3.5L but Dodge is claiming 250 hp. That seems like a lot for that size engine. Challenger appears to be a bit heavier than the Mustang. I wonder how these stack up in 0-60 and quarter mile times?
The 3.5L in the dodges are pretty peppy. anybody know what kind of torque those things make?
I think driver would be the main factor, but i think you'd have to have a CAI and tune if you wanted to keep up. i am surprised the base challenger is only 420 lbs more than ours. that thing looks huge.

so the challenger will have the same engine as the charger sxt, does any one smell a dog eat dog scenario here? It kinda reminds me of the corvette and camaro.

I work for Chrysler, and drive the 3.5 chargers and 300s pretty often. They don't seem quite as quick as my car, but they are quite a bit bigger. The numbers say 250 hp@6400 rpm, and 250 ft-lbs at 3800 rpm. That said, the challenger is a beautiful car.
I have checked out one of the first SRT8s and everything is amazing except the interior. It's boring and looks exactly like the Charger. Hopefully by the time they release other models such as the R/T and v6 next year they will fix that.

arent the challengers going to have a bit more of a race tune? with that said we should have a cai and tune to be even with add ons.. ours just didnt come from the factory that way and thus lower cost to us. that gives us a good extra20+ ponies and close to it in terms of quickness not necessarily power... plus i would think the only option tranny wise, a 4spd auto, would not make it extremely economical... and if they are treating 4th gear as O/D (like our 5th) then we should have an advantage there. then again i might just be full of crap haha...
on the other hand.. it is a GORGEOUS car... props to dodge for really capturing the muscle car retro look... chevy i dont think has done it with the camaro (if it ever comes out hehe).. too modern...
but if they are saying that its going to start at 24 or 25 grand, theres a lot i can do with my six to make it quicker for 4-6 grand. or i could just buy a GT. ill stick to the classic american icon. thank you!

i love the new challengers, even tho they're HUGE-actually kinda like the se better than the rt, etc. same as how i think the v6 stangs look better than the v8s - was gonna wait for one since i'm a mopar guy, but i love the mustangs too, so when i had a chance to get my 05 i did...waited for 3 years - and it was def worth it
