i love when people mention 14 second cars when someone is looking for a new luxury performance car...
and late generation thunderbirds? he said luxury and performance, not "my friend is a 55 year old woman"...
ive driven a 300C srt-8, and it was a nice car inside, and pretty quick. however, if hes looking to spend upwards of 40-50g for a luxury performance car, he shouldnt be looking anywhere except for BMW.
Don't knock the thunderbird man, those late gen birds are very nice cars and they hold their value exceptionally well for what they are. And as for BMW's, well if his friend wants to have "I'm a prick with little man syndrome" written on his forehead he could go ahead and buy one.

im a prick, but i dont think that i have little man syndome...and i had a bmw...
im still amazed how nice it is...nearing 300,000 miles, fully original engine, new clutch and gearbox (went out around 245,000). most of the stuff that i replaced, we did for performance gains, although it wasnt much. things like the computer, the clutch, suspension, exhaust i changed just to do something with the car...thing woudl cruise at 100 like you were on glass, and for a car that only ran in the 15s, it was fun to drive.
our GTO's are by no means luxury sport... sure they are comfortable as hell and powerful, but after that all the standard packaging that comes with "luxury" cars goes out the window, it's practically a engine attached to a transmission with a stereo and comfortable seats shoehorned in
alright.. I've been talking to him again.. thanks for the input.... he is still looking at the Audi TT... He did like the G35 and he wasn't sure how nice the 335i was.. basically.. he wont buy any american car.. i told him Ford owns Audi but he doesn't care ;) so.. take american cars off the list and it has to be a car.. preferably a coupe.. Thanks again. oh.. and he would prefer a newer car.. although he was looking at an NSX.. but he doesn't like the price..

where are you getting that info from???
Audi is owned by Volkswagen, not Ford. Ford owns Jaguar.

I would look at the Audi's now better cars than the newer BMW's far more attractive and nicer interiors too. S5 looks lovely inside. Goes well too. BMW's just don't do it for me.
And just to correct you guys...Ford no longer owns Jaguar or Landrover, They were sold to Tata Motors a while ago now.

335i or S5, but as said earlier, that will be pushing the price envelope. Both take care of the luxury and fast categories. My brother has a 335 and takes it to the track every week, he's a damn good driver, ran 13.31 stock (prob top 5 fastest times stock). The only guys that are pricks w/ little man syndrome are the ones that pass judgement without taking time to actually meet the person.

My pics: Slightly used IS350 (have run mid 13s, 300+hp) Older E55 AMG E46 M3 New 335i if he wants to push that price envelope Used CTS-V (I've seen some on Autotrader in the 25k range now) Twin turbo S4 Newer Acura TL Type S
I mean you could go on and on. There are so many used and a couple of new options within that price range that would fit the bill.
+1 to everything on the list except the TL-S. FWD FTL.

Interesting, for some reason your statment makes me feel as if you have some type of insecurity.
he could always look at a used C32 AMG or older body CLK55 AMG. you can find both around here for around $25-$30k. there's always the Ferrari 308 GTS, you can find them for around $35k state-side

^^^^ i was thinking the exact same thing, I can understand why he is not listening to u now
weird.. I'm pretty sure I had recently read in some financial info that ford owns a 31% stake in audi.. oh well.. i got that info from msn and now I can't find it again.. It shocked me when I had read it. I had known about volvo and mazda, and I had heard about the selling the other brands.. msn probably had it wrong.. they were probably supposed to be mazda in there not audi heh :P (It's probably fixed now)..

I believe, not positively sure, but when he says "own" he actually means Ford is "better" than Audi. (Not positive, but it's common forum lingo)
The 300C SRT8 would be a nice option for this guy.
