Let me inject a little truth serum here.

China would be MUCH less of a threat were it not for Bill Clinton authorizing the sale of advanced computers and technology to the Chicoms.  That one action advanced their military capabilities 30+ years.  Mainly in the area of missles and satellites.  They were in the stoneage up until then and no real military threat. Now, they can splash our satellites and hit the mainland.  Thanks Bill!

We still have force multipliers, (read starwars and related technologies) that can handle the human waves but like the old Chicom saying goes, quantity has a quality all its own.

If we do go toe to toe with China I believe it will be over something like Taiwan and not oil.  But that being said, we did go to war with Japan over oil and other raw materials so.....

An old man I work with is a Marine who was in on the Inchon Landing during the Korean War and was one of the Frozen Chosin (sp?).   He told me about the human wave attacks that the Chicoms used so often.  They commanded their troops with trumpets and whistles.

He said that in the morning, after a night filled with human wave, after human wave attacks that there would be "hundreds and hundreds of bodies, many still living,  in front of the .30 & .50 caliber positions".  He further stated that "A fella could walk from our position, down into the valley and up to the facing hill standing on dead chicoms and never touch the ground".

Simply put, China has the largest Ground Force in the world.  The US has the largest Air Force and Fleet in the World.  Unless it resulted to Nuclear war, both countries would be destroyed.  However, USAF would smash their AF and their Fleet like nothing.  The F-22 and F/A 18 Hornet are the most technologically advanced figher jets in the world.  They don't have an Air Force to Compare.  We have bigger and badder battleships and cruisers.

IMO, war with China should be avoided at all costs, simply because there will be many a loss for both sides, possibly the rest of the world as well.... just my.02

And this is what it would come down to.  Supposing nobody went trigger happy on the nukes, and we didn't actually have to hold the country with ground forces, we would win hands down.  Our Air Force and Navy would wipe theirs out without too much sweat, and then that 300,000,000 person army can't do jack to us because they can't get to us.  Our planes could then bomb everything that moves/makes their country function until they give up.

But if we actually tried to occupy China, well, I really don't think it would ever work.

CHINA IS THE NEXT SUPERPOWER! regardless of what we do, we will be to them what england is to us within the next 50 years, so now we need to make them dependant on US through our freemarket, and trade

Troop morale is down.  I'd say it would be definitely a tough win, especially that they have a much BIGGER military.  Also don't forget that China and Russia work with each other.  They've been selling each other stuff for a pretty long time.  I feel if we got in it with China, Russia would jump in on China's side.

At that point, Russia/Chicoms VS the U.S. and what's left of the English Empire, both hands come out from behind Uncle Sugars back and the gloves are off.

I still like our odds.  We would win as long as it doesn't go nuclear.  If that happens it's lights out planet Earth.

I think you mean that the North Koreans would side with the Chicoms & the Ruskies.
