I have a 01 V6 automatic, i plan on buying a new car...01 Cobra, or 02-04 GT...I LOVE the 03-04 cobras but insurance is way to much for an 18 year old about to go to college. So i was thinking instead of buying a new car...would it be better idea to buy a brand new cobra motor and drop it in my car so i can have the same insurance i have now. is it to much of a pain to do? in the long run would it be better just to get a different car?...EVERYTHING you know about this kind of motor swap i would greatly appreciate it!

Buying the Cobra is the way to go [sm=smiley20.gif]. To many reasons to list as to why, but I am sure, others will agree. Second, I will personally recommend banishing you from MF's if you have a Cobra motor and an auto trans ;)

Going to school, the GT is probably your best bet :)

well... if u wana do that it has been done been before but the whole front suspension, and k-memeber will need redone for the the heavier 4v, then the ecm will need changed, and the guage cluster will need changed for the 7000 rpm redline and the tranny for sure because what fun is an automatic 300hp car. and in my opinon u might as well just go buy like a 98 Cobra because it would cost more to swap then to buy. or buying an 02 gt would also be cheaper and way better then a v6 automatic

ok thanks guys, lately i've been leaning towards the 01 Cobra, fr500's black with a crome lip 18by9's in the front and 18by10 deepdish in the back, borla stingers, 4.10's, JLT Intake and drop it an inch to a inch and a half...but i got a quote online and its $290 a month on insurance...im 18, but i've never gotten a ticket, or into an accident. that seems a little high...

hell yea, i bet thats a mean looking car bro! hey if i were to drop whatever car i get, should i go 1.5 inches or is that to much

mfj

the 99 and 01 cobras NEED dropping... their as high as the GT's... 1.5 inches is minimum. ..

the 03-04's have a nice stance stock, but lowered, they are sexier...

depends on wheel size, but 1 to 1.5 isnt too unpractical u should b fine. Hey mfj where did u get ur FR's?

wheelreplicas.com

they dont really make the black chrome for the sn95 offset..

u have to call and ask for them and tell them that u have the moola to do it, haha.

so a 1.5 inch drop would look good on a 01-04 GT...i just dont want it to look like a ricer, or bottom out on every speed bump you know.
