View Full Version : GT fog light in my NON-GT
scheetz83 04-30-2005, 11:32 PM hi all just bought my new 05 mustang but unfortunately do to my age 21 I did not get the gt (you know insurance). I want to install the fog light grill like the gts have. On ebay there are a lot of factory take-off gt grills with the lights installed in them.
is there any thing I would need to do special other than wiring, to install a gt grill in to my mustang
thanks
Tres Wright 05-01-2005, 02:40 AM Yes, you need to know that the front end of the GT and V6 models are not the same. The GT grille is not a bolt-in replacement. If you want to go the easy route, pick up this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7969778439&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
This guy has already done the work to the grille converting it into a bolt-in replacement. Be aware that the bottom lip of the GT grille does overlap the bumper a bit, but as you can see in the pictures on that auction it's barely noticable.
I saw on another site that Ford may be offering a "pony package" on '06 V6 models that includes a different grille that has the corral around the running horse with spears going out to smaller driving lights. The grille looks incredibly close in appearance to the late 60's stangs that had the GT package.
Smoov_1 05-01-2005, 02:40 AM Not really if you buy this kit it comes with a wiring harness. pretty simple to install. I would recommend buying some 3M double sided tape from Auto Zone to replace the white foam sticky stuff that come with the switch. The only trouble i had with my install is that the Gt grill is slightly larger and kind of a pain of neck, but with some patience it will go right in. I recommend this kit.

good luck with what ever you choose;)
Tres Wright 05-01-2005, 03:04 AM Smoov, it appears that's the same kit that I posted a link to, but the user IDs are different. Do you know if it's the same outfit? They even use the same pictures.
Here is the 06 pony grille I mentioned, not sure if this is official or one of those "what if" ideas from Ford.

ponytx 05-01-2005, 04:57 AM I think smoov's mustang is on the website.... That looks really nice, and alot cheaper then replacing the whole bumper. Now I want to do it.....[sm=icon_rock.gif]
Spanky27usA 05-06-2005, 11:17 AM Hey I got the GT lights and grill as a take off from saleen, and the installation in the V6 is possible and it is a TIGHT fit!, but it improves the front end look.
pony_up 06-15-2005, 11:14 AM Street Scenes are working on a V6 replacement setup like the GT grill with lights. There are 4 grill options: black powder coat, black chrome, chrome & brushed aluminum. It should be ready for market end of this month or next month. No pricing has been released yet.
Here's a link to the TMS post: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=24380&hl=street+scene

i just did last thursday but i've been unable to install it and i really need help right away.. please
SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!
jjpony 06-16-2005, 01:41 AM In case you didn't see it, I posted a reply to your "fog lights upgrade" post. It sounds pretty much like I was told. Some go easy, and some go hard. Jim
Liranrock 06-16-2005, 06:41 PM thanks i saw it..
do you live around the Bay Area (california)??
jjpony 06-17-2005, 09:53 AM Sorry, I live way out in soutwest Missouri.
rygenstormlocke 07-05-2005, 01:20 AM I bought the kit from West Coast Performance Parts off of ebay and just installed it two days ago. Good kit, people are right, the bottom does stick out slightly, but is not noticable. Had to muscle it in but I researched kits for a month and this one got the best reviews. I like the fact that is mostly stock, fog light switch, grille, fog lights etc. I don't like the 06 fog light kit, I love retro look of the car but something about that kit looks cheap. But its up to you as opinions vary. I'll work on getting some pics up.
But just to verify, the place is trust worthly, quality is good and instructions very good. And Charlie returns your calls and answers your quesitons if you have issues.
Later.

cloud 11-12-2005, 01:42 AM are all mustangs pre-wired for fog lights?
chrisc 11-12-2005, 03:05 AM no, but you can buy the set up off ebay and a lot of other sites
afixer, where did you get your street scene grill? that looks great
mtal1259 11-13-2005, 02:23 AM I had the GT bumper installed. But I didnt wire up the fogs yet. Is there a kit for this, or can you only buy it with a bumper or grill setup.
afixer 11-13-2005, 01:08 PM i did the photo shoot for them so they gave it to me its my car on their web site. but they are availible and they are great. i moded the pony to fit as they dont come with one, that was also very easy. you also want to paint the radiator area black before the install because you can see much more. in my opinion this is the best kit unless you like the pony pac. the basicly took a v6 grill and added the factory light mounts to it. unlike the west coast kit, all wait did i say ALL the tabs fit no cutting of the cover and no over hang. and as nice as mister wick is and his kit is easy the SS lights are adjusable just like the factory ones because they are factory. they also have a wire harness and give you a nice small switch to install into the v6 switch or you can do what i did and buy the gt switch and hook thier harnes to it , just one wire needs to go to it everything else goes to the fuse box. i even installed a jumber to the relay that turns on the light on the switch when they are on. and because its hooked up to the factory switch the chime rings if you leave it on when you turn off the car. oh yea and thanks for the complement!

Afixer,
It's good to see you online again. Been busy??!?!?!? There were a lot of AFE questions on mustangforums, tms and stangnet about the gains being true or not. Any new developments with your ride since the last time you posted?

I'm happy with it, and I can feel it at the higher rpms. And that is before a tune. I can't wait to see what gains I get after I have a professional tune done. I am thinking of painting my stock tube blue to match. I saw someone with a red one not to long ago and it looked sweet! Good for car shows.
cloud 11-14-2005, 02:03 AM i alreday set everything up. the switch, the pony package fogs. i just need to hook them up. do any of u guys no how to hook them up?
