K&N filter in the stock airbox with silencer removed and you get the same 3-5 hp gain as a much more expensive CAI

As already stated by cobra232, a K&N filter in the stock airbox minus the silencer should yield similar gains to a CAI. But with them being sold for 70.00 at American Muscle... I'd say get the CAI (from them), it'll at least clean up the engine bay a bit.

Edit: Crap! Never mind. I just realized that their out of stock.

Get the CAI, I have had both the K&N w/ air silencer removed and a CAI now. I noticed a differance once I had the CAI in. It will look better to. Do some shopping around though because you can find them for as little as $80 all the way up to $300. Be careful of the Ebay ones, make sure they have good tubing not just cheap plastic. They do make good plastic ones, K&N for example< but the Ebay can tend to have cheap plastic parts. I have seen BBK & K&N go used on the classifieds here for $100. But jump on one if you see it posted because they don't last long once posted.
