A man in Illinois was robbed. The thief took his keys and his car. Not 24 hours later the thief came back using the keys to enter the house. Hale DeMar of Wilmette, IL shot him with a gun purchased legally years before. The man was arrested after driving to the hospital in the stolen car. Cook county prosecutors called it a good shoot, but Wilmette village had a gun law stating nobody could own a handgun.....punishable by a huge fine and jail time. End result a bill in the IL house and senate stating that citizens may use a gun in defense of their home or business regardless of local laws.    YEP, you got it dear Obama voted against it.

Obama also supported:
---Increasing federal exice taxes on guns 500%
---Banning compact handguns
---Limiting the frequency of gun purchases
---Banning the sale of guns at gun shows
---Charging a person with a felony if his gun were stolen and used in a crime
---Prohibiting anyone under 21 owning a gun
---Increasing gun dealer license fees
---Banning police agenicies from selling old service arms

And.......was the director of the Joyce Federation who is the largest provider of tax-free funds to anti-gun groups in the country.

BTW.....how about Hillary?  She endorsed a 25% tax increase on handuns
---increase the federal gun dealer license
---require licensing of handgun owners and all new rifle and shotgun owners.

Cliff notes.........if you are a gun person......be very careful who you vote for

All of the bolded items are great. Good for him for using common sense and not being afraid to go against the flow on such a hot-button topic.

Charging a person with a felony if his gun were stolen and used in a crime is so obviously taken out of context - there has to be a reasonable explanation for that one.

I am not really happy with any of the candidates. IMO its a situation in which you vote for the lesser of the evils. I plan on voting McCain.

I'm a democrat and I don't HATE guns, but I support what Obama has proposed.

That being said, I see no purpose for somebody to have lets say a machine gun in their household. Easy access to these kinds of things is what causes those occasional robberies where you see criminals with ridiculous machine guns on TV shooting down our cops.

However I don't see a problem with a rifle or a handgun....especially if it is used for hunting and is registered.

Do you really think Obama would do all that stuff in his presidency? Just because he supports it, doesn't mean he is going to do anything about it. For one, its the presidency, he doesn't make the laws. He actually has more power in the senate for that. All he can do is sign papers that come through congress as president, and congress isn't totally dominated by anti-gun politicians.

Focus on issues that really matter when it comes to voting for a president. Like foreign policies, strategies for economic status etc.
