RE: Synthetic oil - 4/29/2008 3:41:15 PM    .boB   Posts: 89 Joined: 4/15/2008 Status: offline I put RP in this time, but only because I had 4 qts of it lying around, and no use for it.  IMO, RP is about the best oil you can get.  It's a true PAO synthetic, well engineered, decent price, and easy to come by.  BUT, I think it's much more than any street car needs.   At $6.50 - $7.00 a qt, not a sensible choice.  For a street car, I'd recommend a good priced Group IV "synthetic oil", like Quaker State, Valvoline, or Penzoil.  They provide all the protection your street car needs, and a reasonable price.  Unless you can get Mobile 1 at a good price, I would not recommend it.  It's also a group IV just like the others; but a lot more expensive.  It's a good oil, just not a good value.  At my next oil change, I'll switch to one of the others.  _____________________________ .boB '08 V6 Pony '65 Monster FFR Roadster (in reply to beltone) Post #: 7

It does not cost me anything. According to the dealer they say their oil is a synthetic blend ,otherwise if I were to change it myself I would use mobil 1. (in reply to jwilhelm) Post #: 9
