I just bought a 1970 fastback with a built 429. Want to make a 429 clone. currently the car has drag radials on it, and I am looking to put the 500 magnums on it. These wheels come in many different sizes. how tall and wide of a wheel can i put on this car, without adding mini tubs, which i don't want to do.
Thanks!

Asside from searching the "Old Skool" forums and asking questions, do the following things to find out. Park the car level, and measure clearances around tire to fender and such. Next, park the car so the rear axle is fully articulated so one wheel is way up in well and other looks like profile for a Hummer, and check clearances again. Usually stopping at a 45 degree angleat beginning ofsteep driveway will accomplish this. You will find clearance has been reduced at top/inside of tire, and this will help you know how much wider you can go. Also make note of clearance of tire going up into fender past outside edge, as you may want to roll the fenders to help. Check the other wheel too b/c exhaust and e-brake cables can be in the way. Some things can be modified, others cannot.

Thanks. I was being lazy and hoping that someone on the list had already done the hard work. I also saw a wheel chart listing on here yesterday too!

I used 295-50-15 on my 70 coupe with 10 inch rims with no modifications

The back spacing for those wheels is 4.5
