Im sick of my 6ixer.. I mean love it and I think it really is one of a kind.,but I think i have finnaly decided on getting a 2005+ GT vs my 03 6 banger.
Im about to turn 19 and im just tired of it.

1. I only live once and nothing is ever promised tomorrow so why not buy the car of my dreams while im here?
2. you have to pay to play and I understand that..Gas is a bitch but oh well ..style cost money.
3. Even if I do the supercharger package for my 6ixer ..I can only dream of touching a Gt.
4. If i do the supercharger....im forced to use premium gas.

I used to be one of those people who dreamed of owning a v8 with the 6ixer but...I cant take it any more. I cant take damn GT's, Mazda...even a damn saturn effing with me at the stoplight and me having trouble shutting them down.

I figure the GT will be 350-400 per month (Based on my down payment for the GT)+ my damn insurance which is already around 200/month...It'll probally go up to 300 something.

Am I a fool for wanting a GT? ...i mean they dont get much less mpg then us and hell ITS A GT!

Thats my rant..Im just curious as to what is holding some of the guys here back from getting a GT.

So the car of your dreams is a GT?

At 19 you want to make payments on a car?

It may sound like a great idea now but really... no... keep the sixxer, drive it hard, and don't worry about it when something happens. Just don't put anymore money into the car and save up for something a better, and if you want to upgrade, sell the car, use the money you've saved and then pay cash for the next car you get. I don't really plan on getting a new car for a while.

Wow, I haven't had a car payment in 6 years and I'm dreading going back to it. I know people that buy new cars every year, some that do it every few months. It's a poooooooor investment. And there's nothing like being 19 with a car payment due every month, have fun!

I prefer paying cash for my vehicles, but due to building my 6er, having a GT, and a truck, along with my girlfriend's car, that I DON'T pay for, I'm gonna just go to the dealer, order my truck and make my payments for 3 years.

Oh, and being 19, have fun paying more like $450 a month + another $300 a month insurance since you have to have full coverage on anything that's financed, and would be stupid to not have full coverage on anything that you can't afford to replace at the drop of a hat.

So, have fun paying almost $800 a month to say you own a GT and then enjoy puting $4-5 a gallon gas in it, sounds like a GREAT investment.

and here we again.  someone actually ranting about wanting to get the v8 brother of their car, and everyone telling him it's a piss-poor decision.  do what you want.  like you said, you only live once.  posting that rant in this section was not a very smart move.  to a lot (not all) of v6 owners, this is a very sensitive subject and is very taboo to talk about.  you woulda been better posting it in the GT section.

what's funny is, GT drivers don't get uptight when people ask "why didn't you just buy a cobra", but a lot of v6 drivers get all up in arms when you ask them "why didn't you buy a GT?"

To Anser the question:

Its just a GT.
For the price I can buy a 98+ trans am / camaro [cry me a river]

And what do you mean if you do a s/c you can only dream of touching a gt? We've got people running low 12s, low 11s, low 10s, and high 9s. You can touch anything you want :D

For the right amount of money and a S/C you will not only touch a GT, you will smoke it. I've seen 4 bangers that the owners have built up that can take a GT. If they can do it, you can to. Before you spend all your money on a GT make sure you have a good job cause that's expensive, that's almost three times what I pay per month. I had a friend in the Marines about your age that wanted a bad a$$ 4x4 truck, he spent around $800 a month between payment and insurance. He could barely afford to drive it and never had the money to go on off road trips with us. We all bought older trucks and built them up, he bought a 2 year old truck that was already built up. Thik about the cost before you splurge like that. If you realy want it, save up some money so that you walk into the dealership with a large downpayment. That would lower your monthly payments enouph that yoy may be able to afford them.

why does everybody assume all GTs remain stock?  if you put all that money in to a v6, there's a good chance you'll run in to a GT with a lot of money put in to it.  especially if you're going to a track or car meets.  GTs get just as modded as a v6.

Do what you want man. But I'm with some of the people that say don't get a payment. I'm still in school and God knows I want a nice, clean, fast car but first things first. Gotta finish school, gotta save money, gotta get a better paying job when I graduate with my degree. You can get a car with payments that don't seem like a lot but you gotta remember with payments comes full coverage too. You'll end up paying a crap load every month. In the long run what does it matter? I would rather save that money to do other things that mean more. If you are a millionaire and money isn't a thing then do what you like, either way do what you want!

Your right, you do only live once and if you want to go out and get a GT, ya your taking a chance.....but that happens in life. I'm almost 19 now just like you and i just got my sixer, i guess realized that getting a GT was just too far out for me since i'll be going to college soon. When i was younger i always asked my dad why all the old people were driving all the nice cars! I just didnt get it at the time, but now i realize its because they took their time and invested wisely.

But w/e you decide to do, make sure that you can live with the decision.
best of luck

I'm 20. I could go to the car lot right, trade in the car now + put a nice downpayment of about $2000 down and get a very nice new edge GT or an sn95 cobra (if I could find one).... no problem.  Car payment would probably be less than the $190 a month I'm paying now, but the insurance would go up some.

I suprisingly have more important things to worry about now than the car... college.  The sixxer is still a great car with lots of potential... that I hope to get alot more potential (supercharger... built engine) right after the time I'm graduate, and get a GT or ls1 f-body that hasn't been ragged to hell for a daily driver.

If you are scared at the thought of paying for 93 octane, chances are the GT payment and insurance is gonna rape your bank account.  I run 93 with my tune right now, and I don't get pissed off when I pay for gas.  With the 93 tune, it's def worth it.. it's just the price you pay.

Find the balance between what you want and what you can afford.  I sure as hell wouldn't be driving a V6 mustang if money wasn't an object, that being said, I am extremely happy with my car.

if i saved my money instead of doing things to my car and sold mine i could get a nice sn95 gt (i like the body style and would stay with it) but its my first mustang and its hard to let go of. I've had a few people i work with wanting to buy it off me or trade plus cash but I can't seem to let go of it.
