yeah, the first couple of times I go out I usually have to wear the wet suit to, fortunately it usually glass all day though. Last year we had the perfect spot on the lake where you could just ride the glass all day without another boat in sight, it was AMAZING.
connor90, I can't wait for Peavine Mountain to erupt and splooge magma, rock, dust, and debris everywhere!!! The part about this that sucks.............I live right on the base of the mountain.
Hurricanes coming this summer. Government's got to spread more fear of an oil shortage or supply disruption to keep the prices up. Remember all that post 911 scare tactics or that big failure war in Iraq that lost all those American lives?

really? yeah, thats what ive been telling my parents haha. we live right off Mayberry and McCarran....right by walden's coffee house and across from roy gomm elementary. but seriously, dont these things just piss you off?
To be honest, the only quake I felt was the 4.7 we had a couple Friday's ago. I was at Parklane watching Harold and Kumar. Of the hundreds we've had over the last couple months, especially the last couple weeks, I felt ONE...........weird. I sleep to deep to feel or here anything. I'm too busy at work to even think about a quake. I would suck if Peavine really did explode, but it would be cool at the same time.
What's really pissing me off...........................this stupid wind we've had lately. I swear my house nearly blew down a couple weeks ago. Every damn day, nothing but wind.
thats weird...i mean i know they're not huge or anything but anything bigger than a 2 will get our house shaking pretty good. i was actually down in malibu and san diego looking at colleges during the 4.7 so i didnt get to feel that one...a few of my friends called me and told me about it though.
Yeah, it's always windy here, but it seems like it's been stronger than normal the last couple weeks. I live in Stead and the wind the rips down off Peavine can be ridiculous sometimes. If the weather man predicts 40-60 gusts in town, it's 80-100+ out here.
yeah, i dont get as much wind as you but we had those huge gusts the other day...i swear to god, if it gets cold again i dont know what im going to do. its been fairly nice recently though.
lol...well im glad im not in guam. the thing about that quake was that it was 125 miles from the island...the ones we've been having are around 5 miles from my house. not saying ours are huge, they're not, but they are pretty annoying and they keep you on edge for a while. they seemed to have calmed down finally...
california will now become an island.... WOOOOO them and their silly laws.
they say that technically the peoples republic of kalifornia moves 1" further towards the ocean per year due to the states border laying right on a fualt.
Guam is right next to the Marianas trench...it is deeper than Mt. Everest it high.
Ok, little Plate Tectonics lesson here...there are 3 types of faults....divergent, convergent and transform.
Divergent is where the plates come apart...the plates spread, and new material is formed in the gap. Convergent is where they come together...the plates fold in each other, and material is absorbed into the Earth Transform are sliding boundaries, nothing is made or absorbed.
So, bring your hands together, that is a convergent motion...slide your hands together, that is a transform motion. When you take your hands apart, that is a divergent motion. So, with the Pangaea landmass theory, we have been spreading apart. There is an estimate that the Atlantic Ocean grows by 2 inches every year, and the Pacific shrinks by that much. And like I said earlier, because the San Andreas Fault line is a TRANSFORM boundary, it will not make California fall into the ocean, it will slide north, while the rest of North America slides south.
I learned this in an Oceanography class, taken on deployment in 2005, during the Tsunami that wiped out most of Indonesia.
