oh and i just read a study that said there is a 99% chance of a magnitude 7 or greater earthquake happening in southern california in the next 20 years...97% in northern california.

Well, based on when they started collecting data I'm pretty sure you guys are long over-due for a big one. I don't know by how many years, might even be decades, but I know it's some figure in that ballpark. Someone's gotta have a link.

knock on wood

Since natural disasters are alot more frequent these days as predicted,  The only natural disaster that hasnt been big making national news is an earthquake

well it was a study done by some seismologists...its nearly impossible to predict earthquakes so that was the best figure they could come up with.

But if California breaks off, who will be Oregon's Mexico?

Nah, Mexico is the United States' Mexico, you can't have Mexico be Mexico for a country and a state.

What an earthquake feels like depends on a lot of different things. The type of soil you're on, the type of building you're in, the type of fault and the direction it slips etc. Some feel like being on a vibrating bed, some are a violent up-down movement, or side-side movement, sometimes both and on and on. And the new Madrid fault in the mid west is about due for a major move, and here in Cali we seem to have a mag 7.0+ in a regular basis, like every 10-15 years. We're about due.

****!!!!!!!!  Its never going to stop!!!!  we've been having smaller ones but today we've had 4 that were magnitude 3.0 or bigger...usually we only have like one of those a day.  we just had 2 of them a second ago and they freak me out.

the idea of an earthquake disturbs my mind.   I just don't like it. I have only felt a tiny bit of something once.  I was walking thru the house and saw a picture on the wall shake just a tiny bit and thought i felt a little shake.  i thought maybe they were blasting at the quarry near our house, but it was seismic activity according to the tv.  lol

yeah, they suck.  just kind of unsettling when you're trying to go to bed.  this has been going on for almost 2 weeks now...it let up for a few days but now it seems like its picking up again.  according to the interwebz the last one was a 3.8, not too bad i guess.  you can actually hear them coming like a second before they hit

that would make me crazy.  It would take a lot of them before I would stop absolutely freaking out at the first little quiver.

Bah. 4 isn't even enough to wake you up. It'll happen though, for the next year or so there will be the occasional 3 or 4 and they'll get fewer and fewer. We had a 4.4 around here the other weak. Try riding through a 6 or 7, or bigger. THAT'S a wild ass ride.

I've never been in an Earthquake either, but they had one near Norman a day after I left like 2 years ago. Wish I was still there.
