i heard a rumor that nascar will switch the "shells" or what ever you wanna call them pretty soon

i hear they will switch to camaro, mustang, and challenger shells, and the toyota sponsored ones will get something else

that might pique my intrest a little more

Haven't heard that, but it sounds like a great idea. The idea of racing a Camry is just .

Thank you for making the most ignorant comment in the entire thread.  F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport racing.  Every form of open wheel racing is a stepping stone to get to F1, and those that can't cut it there step down to "stock cars".  A couple names come to mind, lets see......Villenueve (sp?)........Montoya........

I don't think there has ever been a Winston Cup driver in F1, they are so entirely different that they couldn't handle it.  "You mean I have to turn right too?!?  OMG WTF am I gonna do?!?  I can't bump or hit people?!?  How am I gonna pass somebody?"

Schumacher is the best driver alive in the world today, and IMO if he and Ayrton Senna had had more time together it would have been proven that he was also better than Senna.  Look at Schumacher, wins F1 World Championship 7 times, and holds virtually every record in the books.  He retires, and is now semi-pro on superbikes.  That takes insane amounts of talent.

montoya won one race last year and it was a fuel milage race. he was the only guy that stayed out on the track and got lucky. that is not the driver but the crew chief.

and that first guys brought up names like montoya? he cam to nascar and got his ass handed to him by the real drivers. nascar is where the best drivers in the world race

No i'm talking about NASCAR.

Anyway, you can't compare the 2 sports. My brother and i'll say this again, raced shifter karts throughout his life and has raced scott speed. Who as you know was in F1 2 years ago. My brother was better than him, but didn't have the money, and now my brother is in nascar.

Scott SPeed is too, BUT he really isn't that great in it either. My brother is very talented getting praised by everyone at the track and on the radio.

Anyway, Jeff Gordon drove an F1 car, and said it was pretty difficult but managed to get a few decent laps in. Then the guys car he drove drove Gordons nascar. He said it was pretty hard nd got a few so so laps in

Now look at Franchiti and Montoya and the other open wheeled fames, and look where they are at. Dario Franchiti BARELY makes some of the races Montoya SUCKS.

Even when they go to  the 2 road courses they don't pull un godly times, **** Montoya didn't eve qualify poll. Tony Stewart won a few. See you can't compare these two racing sports both totaly different.

I stand corrected, this is the most ignorant statement in this thread

Yes, Scot Speed was in F1 for a while.  It was hoped that he would help increase American interest in the sport.  He scored a whole one or two points in his very short career and was let go because he was so unreliable and generally used poor judgement in passing situations.  He was constantly hitting people.

I am not saying it takes no skill at all to drive Nascar, because I know it does.  It is just a radically different set of skills when compared to F1 or open wheel racing in general.  I just find it entertaining that this guy actually seems to believe Nascar drivers are so much better than F1 drivers.

HAHAHAHAH I love these nascar threads, brings all the hillbillys out of the woodwork

You can like nascar all you want, differnet strokes for different folks, but to say they are superior drivers to F1 drivers is just plain retarded

Would like to see any nascar driver do this.

I'm sure the G forces and right turns would confuse them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.  Going to a NASCAR race is great because it is the only place where you can count more feet than teeth.

Besides, Sprint Cup girls have NOTHING on F1 girls!

Only read first page.

On TV, it isn't much fun till like 25 laps to go.  But when you get inside the cockpit with the blazing engines, the gauges, the nudges at 200mph, and the draft... it's ****ing amazing.

No offense, but Nascar should be American car companies only, with the new shells.

Toyota can suck it.

I'd like to make that one too.  I went to the USGP the first four years it was here, and then stopped going   The sound in person is simply indescribable compared to what you hear on TV.  And a word of caution, don't go down to the starting line thinking you are gonna get some awesome pictures without wearing ear protection.....just ask me how I know
