Radiator size
I have an 88 LX and my radiator is shot so it is time for a new one. So I am wondering what size I should put in it. I believe that it has a 1 row in it right now and until recently I have not had any problems with overheating, but I was wondering ifa 2 row would be a better choice.Would itbe worth the extra money? The car ispretty much all stock and is my DD so I do not know if it would be worth while. Also, by putting in a 2 row, will it be too efficient during the winterso I will not have any heat goingto my heater core? Right now I am looking at a cheap Transpro radiator from Autozone, does anyone have any experience with these? It has a lifetime warranty so I figure that I cannot go toowrong with it.Any input would be greatly appreciated!

RE: Radiator size
Update: I decided to go with the Transpro radiator, so thank you guys for your input in helping make the decision easier. Even better I got it on sale for $83.99. I don't quite have the luckof alboy91lx, but still it beats the $125-$150 everyone else wanted. Anyway, so far I am quite pleased with the radiator, I haven't had any operating problems yet and the temp hasn't gone over 200 degrees.I did have trouble with the installation though asthe radiator was a lot bigger than the one that was in the car. Either they gave me a two core, or the existing radiator was just really small as it was about a 1/2" to an 1" thicker. It was also a tad bit taller so I had to play with the brackets to get it to fit, and nowthe hood does not latch as well and it has to be slammed shut. Also, the fan braces do not line up anymore.I do not know if it is because radiator is just larger, or if it was because I had a midget radiator in it before that caused the brackets to be out of whack. Anywho, I am content for now and thanks again for your guys help.

The width wasn't as much of a problem as the height was. The brackets had enough room for the extra inch, but I did have to add a spacer to my fan bracing to keep it from hitting the radiator. Whenyou put in the new radiator you might want tolook intogetting a cooling fan and shround froma 5.0. |
RE: Radiator size
But will the fan and shroud still fit with a little modification?
