am i on the right track??

ricekiller06 -> am i on the right track?? (4/28/2008 6:24:10 PM)

with my mods listed in my sig do you guys think i am on the right track for 1/4 mile times?
here is my fastest run to date.....

60'  - 1.962
330' - 6.014
1/8 - 9.412
MPH- 72.85
1000' - 12.319
1/4 - 14.785
MPH - 92.78

some reason i think that i should be in the 14.5 to .6 range, any input will be appreciated

that doesn't sound too off. 14.5 seems very possible though especially with the gears and lsd. how was the humidity? what's the elevation? and those rims probably add a decent amount of rotational mass

my first mustang -> RE: am i on the right track?? (4/28/2008 6:49:25 PM)

Your take off is great. You seen to be falling off on the top end. These are my times on 4/16.  60 ft.-2.110,  330 ft.-6.138  1/8-9.431 mph-74.80,  1000-12.257,  1/4-14.654@93.58  The car is just as you see in the signature below. Maybe you should get a tune from VMP or BAMA.

That's a great 60' time.  Your 18's may be slowing you down some.  I see that you are a stick - at what RPM were you shifting?

ricekiller06 -> RE: am i on the right track?? (4/28/2008 7:59:12 PM)

i dont use the 18's for drag racign i got some MT drag raadials for racing that mount up to our stock 16's

ya i am a manual and i launch at around 3800 to 4000 rpm and shift at 5500 rpm i dont really run the redline too much

i am starting to think that the autos are steppin it up, that or i need a short shifter

Silver Vert 06 -> RE: am i on the right track?? (4/28/2008 10:26:41 PM)

Definitely get a tune from one of the reputable tune shops such as Bama, VMP, Brenspeed, Alternative Auto, etc.  You may have made some changes in your tune with your XCal2, but the tune shops are capable of adjusting several more parameters than just the ones the Xcal2 allow you to change.  Your times seem about right.  If you want to lower them a little bit more, an aluminum driveshaft will probably help.  The aluminum driveshaft is about 1/3 the weight of the stock driveshaft.  Lower rotational weight will allow you to accelerate and rev through the powerband quicker.

the 5500 RPM shift is whats killin you. shift at about 4900 thats our peak power. if you shift later the car kinda noses over and loses momentum... give sooner shifts a try.

im pretty sure boss245 lets his rip all the way to 6200 or so.  and hes the quickest n/a by far.

so fazm do you run the redline what is your advice you think 6000rpm is a good shift point?
and i still have more room to grow with the tune im not totally there yet im working on perfecting it myself i think its more fun

thats cool that ur modding the tune yourself. i'm sure it'll make you more proud if you reach your 1/4 goal.

i also see that you have US Gears which is what i have installed. been trying to recommend these for those who can't get a hold of FRPP (non-motive) gears. how do you like em?

ricekiller06 -> RE: am i on the right track?? (4/30/2008 5:36:36 PM)

ya the tuning it yourself thing isa pretty nice feel when it actually starts to work for me

the gears are awesome! i love them plus i got a great deal for them, there is a little whine but then again when the ring gets bigger the more whine comes but i love them. ya i try to recommend these to everyone too

yeah, i hear a very mild whine also but only with windows rolled up and radio off. not bothersome at all. good luck with the tuning.
