Default sprint car tires

I came across a set of 26" sprint car tires (15" rim)for $45 with a little over 1/4" of tread left on them. I thought I might be able to use them on the drag strip. Has anybody else ever tried this? I hope they will hook up better than my Potenza's. I figured for $45 it was worth a shot?

Yes, for dirt, but the rubber is super soft andthe side walls are petty thin too. The guy I got them from said he runsthem on his 460 powered fox and get's 13's.

Well go ahead and use them then, what do we know. I am sure somone with a rocket like 13 second Fox (with a 460 no less) knows more than we do

They won't work.. they are way too soft for that type of abuse.Keep in mind that tires are designed for different purposes and therefore should only be used for those specific purposes. I wouldn't feel safe using those type of tires for drag racing on a paved surface.
