So today me and three other guys are talking about cars, and the Taylor said on saturday a guy with a v6 mustang pulled up to him and started revving it. He said he beat the mustang by just a few feet, i was like bull**** show me a video. Then this kid Dave was like v6 mustangs are for chicks. I was like what the hell are you talking about, some people buy the v6 for the looks and it's a reasonable price for a great looking car, if you got the extra 8 grand buy a GT. I told him the reason why I have a v6 mustang was because of insurance,gas and costs way more.

He's like the v6 mustang is a piece of **** because it has 1 muffler and it's bented downwards, I was like wow kid, race me after school, hes like ok I'll take you. His car has all this weird **** done too it, mines bone stock 07 white pony package. By the way the kid Dave has a 04 civic lol. So after school we go to this open street where nobody drives. 3 horns then we go, I couldnt get a video because I was driving but I beat the hell out of him so bad, I couldnt stop laughing. I know street racing is dangerous but this was a must race. Then I go back and talk to him and he's like It's still a chick car. He pulled off and I couldnt stop laughing at him. The S197 6'ers run fairly well honestly. I had a buddy with one. I was almost impressed.

Anyway, you're missing the legist of this. Neither of you have a car to race. You should both just enjoy your nice cruisers and not worry about making them fast. They're not made to be fast. Make a fast car and take it to the strip. Trust me, I've been there and done it. Hell, I actually used to think that my Maxima was fast...[:-]

I have learned this about street racing, organized street races are pretty safe when done on the right road (2 or 4 lanes) where there aren't any houses or buildings withinnotice for miles(lots of these places in the south and around farming areas). But this also includes lookouts(people) for other cars at a safe distance. With these guidelines, it'sverysafe as long as the 2 people racing know how to control their car. I'msure there areother safe possibilities (empty warehouse/other-things hugeparking lots, etc) but I don't feel like stating them.Just something I thought about

Later this week, I'm going to face the cobalt. Guys when I do race, which I never do unless people talk smack, we go to this road where nobody drives and we make sure nobody goes down that road. It is very safe. I raced the civic today and ran over it bad. I hit 75 mph which was pretty good. It just rained tonight here in chicago. Hopefully thursday or friday I can get a run in vs the chevy cobalt ricer. He said he wanted to bet me 40$, should I do it? His car isnt s/c, it's just a black cobalt with stickers and a huge spoiler on it.

Because it kind of is. Why buy a V6 when the GT has like a $4000 higher MSRP(you can buy a 05-06 GT for what a new 08 V6 costs). As always(especially with the S197) the V6 cars just look cheap, they don't look nearly as good as the V8s for some reason.

Did you understand my point? I was simply explaining that you should be happy with what you got. You got it because you wanted it, but there are haters out there. Don't let them talk you out of it, since they are just jealous, and the fact that they always find something wrong with what you got only proves that. When I had my V6, I "shoulda got a V8", now that I have my GT I "shoulda got a Mach or a Cobra". It's how these people are.They love taking your inventory and bringing you down to thier level.

The only reason I upgraded to a GT was my inability to justify modding the 3.8. Mine was falling apart, had a lot of maintenance required, and it never really commanded respect. I did enjoy being on the same level as most of the econo boxes out there, though. Being able to have an even race with a CRX or a civic or a sentra was fun. Nowadays, my stockish GT means anybody I'm willing to race is going to beat me... but I'd ruin anybody I used to be able to race.

exactly it's your car, i think every day i shoulda got a termie, so i will eventually, but i love the car i've got....there is no amount of $$ that will cause her to leave my hands.

V6's are always looked at as girl cars b/c like stated:
1. Lots of girls drive them
2. They are thesmaller enginemodel of the mustang.

Lots of people like calling the smaller engine model cars from their type of cars, girl cars. I bet if you check cobalt forums, ss people will talk about non-ss cobalts as girl cars or the charger forums where the r/t people look down upon the sxt people as driving girl cars and the same will happen to the camaro when it comes out(probably with a 6 cylinder). It's mostly an ego and asshole thing, or if it comes from a comedial person it's a joking thing. Me and my friends constantly joke around to pick stuff out that makes my car not the best possible car. Examples:
-Only a 5-speed manual? Shoulda got a 6-speed or replace it with a 6 speed.
-Only 325hp crank stock? Shoulda got something with 400hp+
-Naturally Aspirated V8? The only real V8 is a force inductioned one
-Only no cats and resonators for your exhaust? Should put in some longtubes or run open headers

You get the point. If you look atcars, all have their fallacies compared to other cars. Thefact is the V6 mustang (I've owned one) is agreat american V6car fromthe factory and the fastest car for under $20k. Withmy heavily modded V6 I took down a lot of respectable cars for my car being a bolt-on6 (accords, mustang gt's,5.0's, gti's, s2000,you get the point). Don't letanyone put you down forowning a V6 stang, and if a mustang gt owner puts you down, bust their balls for not getting the next higher model (V6<GT<Mach 1<SVT Cobra(f/i one, aka terminator)<Shelby GT 500<and in rarecases Saleen S7).

I never street race ever, I only have a few times, I've had a friend die from racing and I just use my v6 stang just to cruise, take me to school and work. I always get some good looks having it. It's a nice feeling. Some kids don't even know that there are better models for the mustang. To them its a mustang. They think it'd a expensive car but yet it's not. I wish I had a GT but I love my v6. It looks good, performs good for the price and lasty gets me pussy.

no offense to you or anyone else here but i would never buy a v6 mustang or camaro for that matter in my mind it totally destroys the legend of the pony car, when i hear mustang i think balls to the wall V8 torque..not all v8 mustangs are like that but in my mind it isnt quite a "Mustang"

my 88 gets 18 mixed driving and 22 freewayand you cant be getting much better
and if your worried about$$ why did you buy a new car??
my 88 LX 5.0 costs me less in a year that your car does to you im positive on that fact. so why spend all the money?
you coulda spent half as much and had a 93+ GT or cobra evenand just it being older and not worth as much would substantially save your insurance prices.
so if your gonna spend as much as an 07 costs.....and your worried about costs to own as a factor in not sporting for the GT package....

Stock for stock a new S197 v6 with a good driver should beat a base model Cobalt and a Civic. Now an SS would be a good race and the SS/SC will win. The new Civic Si's, being the 06 and newer ones can run high 14's, so it would be a good race for a v6 S197. Racing a base model Cobalt or non-Si Civic isnt the brightest thing to do, they shouldnt be a match for an S197 v6 or v8.

A V6 mustang may be considered a "girl's car". But chicks that drive mustangs are hawt, so who cares!

lol.. That's a little better than the mach got when it was stock. I averaged about 26-27 miles a gallon on the highway, and a little less than 20 in the city unless I stomped on it alot and then I'd get about 16 or 17.

if it helps... i get about 11mpg in city and 19-22 hiway in my mustang.... Not my DD tho..
My truck yeah its a chevrolet w/ a 5.3 but it gets decent mileage--- 17/19city- 24/28'ish hiway (depending how i drive and how fast i'm going of course)

Why do you think people call v6 stangs chick cars? Really pisses me off.

no offense to you or anyone else here but i would never buy a v6 mustang or camaro for that matter in my mind it totally destroys the legend of the pony car, when i hear mustang i think balls to the wall V8 torque..not all v8 mustangs are like that but in my mind it isnt quite a "Mustang"
now those new v6 mustangs do move pretty good i wont deny.
but gas mileage?
what do you get on average?
my 88 gets 18 mixed driving and 22 freewayand you cant be getting much better
and if your worried about$$ why did you buy a new car??
my 88 LX 5.0 costs me less in a year that your car does to you im positive on that fact. so why spend all the money?
you coulda spent half as much and had a 93+ GT or cobra evenand just it being older and not worth as much would substantially save your insurance prices.
so if your gonna spend as much as an 07 costs.....and your worried about costs to own as a factor in not sporting for the GT package....
i say why not spendthe extra 8 grand on the GT......thats my rave and mr. Jameson right here agrees ful;heartedly!!

you need to understand without mass production of gthe V6 version the mustang wouldn't be worth making, so the V6 stang is needed whether what you think of when you hear the name mustang, firebird, or camaro


i am awareof this fact. and also there are governemtn regualtions saying that for ever v8 they produce they have to produce a certain amount of v6s


so, how many V6 corvettes a year did the government tellchevy they have to build?


last time i checked actually a 2007 corvette gets better economy then a 2007 mustang gt....and its considerably faster

My C6 gets right at 28-29 highway. Gets down to around 16 city with me romping on it....a lot.



lol.. That's a little better than the mach got when it was stock. I averaged about 26-27 miles a gallon on the highway, and a little less than 20 in the city unless I stomped on it alot and then I'd get about 16 or 17.

That 26-27 you got was probably 65mph while my 28mpg was at 86mph :D

Really? When I put the Vortech on my V6 my mpg dropped dramatically. Like worse than the Cobra gets now :(

Well, I averaged 365 miles to a tank, and I used on average between 13 and 14 gallons a fill-up, which averages between 26.07 and 27.03 mpg.. I wasn't romping on it though, that was hours on end of nothing but freeway driving. That's a 1600+ mile trip from VA Beach to Ft. Worth and I made it in two and a half days. LOL I'm sure it'd probably be worse than that just DD on the freeway brudda, I'd be romping it a lot more too.. LOL

True, but then I havent had that much of a chance to drive the car with the blower on it in normal stop & go traffic.. I had the blower put on while I was home on leave in Feb and I had about two days or so to drive it around, then I had to drive it back to my Dad's place in TX so he could watch it while I'm deployed. [>:]So I'd imagine once I start driving her around again mine'll drop too.. [&:]

guys that worry about what is a girls car or guys car have little wieners, i can pull more trim in a vwbug than someone who is worried if there car compensates enough for their "short shifter"
