tuner/programmer = SCT XCAL or DIABLOSPORT Predator

tuner shops (email order tunes) = bamachips, VMP, brenspeed, etc.

if you buy a tuner from the tuner shop directly, you should recieve custom tunes preloaded into the programmer. this is the best value and cost saving option. just give them the info they need about your car and they will do the rest. loading the tune into the car is easier than setting up an xbox video game for the first time. ok so if i want a tune that is for regular gas but some hp gain, basically all i can afford with the prices what do you guys suggest.

go here http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index.php?p=product&id=138&parent=2   go to where it says custom tune and there are 3 selection boxes.  in your case you'd probably want two to be 87 octane gas mileage,  87 octane performance. and get 93 octane performane for those days when you just dont give a flying f*ck about cost [:D]

thanks for the information that looks good any other reccomendations would be appreciated.

Sancho805 -> RE: Tuning (4/28/2008 5:14:25 PM)

bama 87 perf, 91/93 torq, 91/93 race. the 87 perf gets better miliage than the higher octane tunes. high octane tunes make my foot heavy so miliage suffers. [8D]

Silver Vert 06 -> RE: Tuning (4/28/2008 10:18:06 PM)

I'm running Bama's 93 octane race tune in my daily driver.  Premium fuel only cost about $3.00-$4.00 more per tank.  If I'm going to drop $600+ on a cold air intake and tuner combo, I may as well use it to its full potential.  I have no problems spending and extra $4 a week on gas to get much better performance.  My gas mileage didn't suffer either with the tune.  My gas mileage is about the same as stock, if not slightly better.

black08mustang -> RE: Tuning (4/30/2008 1:56:27 PM)

ok so you get an sct xcal with the 3 different tunes...you use 1 of the 3 at a time??? or are all 3 downloaded???

tientran -> RE: Tuning (4/30/2008 2:53:49 PM)

Only load one at a time.

Sancho805 -> RE: Tuning (4/30/2008 2:54:41 PM)

one tune loaded into car at a time. if you start with an 87 tune and decide to load in a 93 tune, then you NEED to get your tank near empty and fill with the specific octane before loading the tune. if you go from 93 back down to 87, no need to empty tank first. However, you car should still run best with the correct octane for the specific tune. 87tune/87octane, etc.

my first mustang -> RE: Tuning (4/30/2008 4:09:15 PM)

Get a cai and a good axleback muffler too(or a GT takeoff). These 3 mods work great on the V6 Mustangs.

thanks for all of this information
