So i already have 6.5 focal comps fited in my door and stock mid/tweeter positions.(had the mach 460) My birthday is coming up next month and im getting cdt upstage tweeters(http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3087). I am going to mount the focal tweeter where it should be next to the mid woofer and mount the new tweeter in the a-pillar. The problem is i want to take out the factory grill and make custom mounts where the orignal gril was. So i can angle them properly and it will look better. i dont know how i would mount the speaker mounts. should i mount them to the door panel or to the sheet metal and if i mount them to the sheet metal how would i get the door panel back in because they have to be pushed down to lock in.???

I don't really understand what your asking.  You want to put it in your a-pillar which I understand but what do you want to do with the factory grill?  factory ford or CDT?

It takes a bit of practice to get it molded smoothly into the pilar.

Don't do it!!!!

The upstage kit is a bandaid for a poorly laid out front stage. (This coming from mister CDT)

If you are going through the trouble of makeing some tweets fit in the sail panels, put a set of tweets in there and ditch the CDT idea.

Also, What amp are you using on those comps. If you dont have one yet, your money will be much better spend on an amp then the upstage kit.

no i have an amp. so preal your saying i should basically leave it the way it is with my tweeters mounted in the factory mach460 locations?  and ttocs i ment reomoving the factory grill and custom building mounts for the speaker that would replace them so basicaly the speakers would be flush with the door panel so the sound waves would not be obstructed, at least by the door panel.

i understand all of the sound waves (physics major) but i dont have the money for three ways and i would have to custom mold them to get them to sound right also. trying to make what i have work to the best of its potential. dont know if you need to know but i have a Orion Cobalt Series CS500.5 5 Channel Amplifier, focal access 165 a1(woofer in stock location tweeter in mach460 mid/ tweet location), mach 460 stock speakers in the back just for fill lp 250, a 10" kicker cvr in a sealed box. and about a hundred dollars to work with.

what more are you wanting from the system?  What is it lacking that you want to fix?
