For some unknown reason my horn will start going off by itself while I am driving. Sometimes just randomly bleeping and sometimes a constant blare. I took it to the dealer like a month ago and they told me it was because I had an air freshner plugged into the front lighter socket and i left it in overnight. They replaced the fuse to thehorn because it eventually blew while it was going off on the way to the dealer. Now a month later it is starting to do it again and i havent had any air fresheners plugged into it. Has anyone experienced this problem yet ?

First, go check the passenger side carpet nead the kickpanel, see if that is wet....

never even hear of that on a Mustang. if your still under warranty i'd take it back to the dealership and throw an absolute temper tantrum about there being a short in the wiring connected to the horn, it could be at the horn, the steering wheel or anywhere in between.
It had nothing to do with a plug-in air freshener to begin with.
good luck!

Yep, that's what I was thinking too. He/she might have the dreaded leak in which case would cause strange things to happen with the electrical system.

i took it back two days ago and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. They said they are going to replace the relay to see if that works but if it doesn't i have no clue what it could be. Whatever it is they better fix it because it only has 17k and is still under the factory warranty.
What was the leak you guys are talking about in the passenger side?

There have been numerous threads about the leak. Not all Mustang owners have it though....mine doesn't leak.

I had a late 80's ford tempo in high school that did that. I had to rip the steering wheel apart and disconnect the horn. OF course, that was the least of the problems I had with that pos.

It could be the clock spring wire assembly inside
the steering wheel. Try disconnecting the horn
wire only from the connector going to the steering
column.
http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=137&viewfile=Steering%20Column.pdf
Its the DarkBlue, wire #7 on Connector C2274 or wire #39 on
Connector C2280B on the SJB.
This wire is grounded when you want the horn to go off.
http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=40&viewfile=Speed%20Control.pdf
If it still goes off by itself, try disconnecting the Orange/Red
tracer wire #29from the SJB on Connector 2280C or wire #A1
on Connector C1035A on the BEC under the hood.
http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=40&viewfile=Horn,%20Cigar%20Lighter.pdf
If this cures the problem, its the SJB going haywire.

Thanks a lot for the advice guys. I took it back to ford and told them and sure enough there was a leak. I guess water got into the smart junction box and corrodeda bunch of wires. Ford kindly replaced the entire box and all the wires and resealed the car so it wouldn't happen again. The reason why i didnt catch the leak was because it wasnt getting to the carpet, it was running into the smart junction box. hope this helps with anybody else and other electrical issues.

I had the same "moisture in the computer housing" issue 3 months ago. I noticed it when my emergency brake light stayed on when my e-brake was off. The e brake light turned off the next day before I took it in and I thought it was a random ford thing. I took my mustang over to my friends house. My friend sat inside and the locks kept cycling up and down. For some odd reason I thought my mustang was possessed and noticed a charger owner sitting inside her:). I finally took it in and ford fixed the issue by replacing the cpu housing. Does any one know how the moisture even gets in there?
