tire rubbing on driver side front

casperorr -> tire rubbing on driver side front (4/28/2008 12:01:50 AM)

Hello Group,
I dropped my cell phone today and it went under my car by the driver front tire. While getting my phone I notice that my driver's side front tire has a black rub mark center of the sidewall. I am running Replica GT500 Wheels with NITTO 555's. I purchased them through Discount Tire. I did not have time to pull the wheel/tire off the car tonight, but will in the morning. I checked my passenger side and there is no rubbing on that side. I do not hear anything while driving, nor feel anything while driving. Has anyone heard of this before? Or has anyone had this happen to them? I will post what I find tomorrow after I pull the tire off.
Thank you for your help in advance,

Keith

Your black mark description is a little too vague. What size are your wheels/tires (include rim width and all three tire numbers), and take post some pics.

Sounds a little more like you lightly brushed a curb on the driver side.  If your wheels are 18 x 9.5, those 255/45-18's don't offer a whole lot of protection, so it couldn't have been much of a scrape and you might not have noticed it at all when it happened.

But in case it really is a rubbing issue, are there any rub marks on the inside of the fender?  And what is the wheel size (include the offset).  It is entirely possible to have rubbing on one side but not on the other when clearances get tight (body sheetmetal tolerances, y'know).
