Went in yesterday. Conditions were less than ideal. 77 degrees with 80-90% humidity throughout the session. (It was raining cats and dogs outside.) Made three passes on a dynojet. Two base runs and one run that was supposed to help estimate my 1/4 mile under "ideal" conditions. Location approximately at sea level.
First run netted 465rwhp and 442rwtq on the FRPP tune with boost peaking around 10.9 and air/fuel sitting kind of rich around 11.2-11.3ish. After the first run, we let the car sit for a while and ate some lunch.
Second run netted the exact same RWHP (465) but somehow got 448rwtq. (I attribute this to the slightly lower humidity during the second run.) Boost again peaked at about 10.9, and air/fuel was still rich at about 11.3 a WOT.
Third run was something different. Tested the theoretical 1/4 mile time under ideal conditions for the car. Now, let me say in advance that the operator cautioned me that these numbers would be difficult to achieve in the real world. Basically, I would need a perfect driver mod, but it is supposedly what the car is capable of. Having said that, the car should be capable of an 11.8 at 120mph if John Force is behind the wheel, lol. I was told that low 12s would be more realistic in the real world if I'm on my M/T slicks.
I will be returning to have the car custom tuned on May 17th, possibly with new CoPs. I was told that it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect 490+rwhp on a relatively conservative tune once we lean out the air/fuel a bit and fiddle with the timing. I'm crossing my fingers for 500 to the wheels.
I'm also happy to announce that if all goes well at the next St. Bernard Parish council meeting, Chalmette, Louisiana will have a performance shop for the first time since hurricane Katrina by the end of the summer (it will no longer be called Performance Plus, nor will it be owned by the same people. The new owners are mustang enthusiasts with tons of tuning experience). I'd also like to thank Ricky for coming out on a miserable rainy day and helping me towel dry my rear tires and play on his recently broken in dyno.
As soon as my next session is complete, I will graphs and tons of pics of the new shop.

Good luck with the new tune and Cops. Haven't heard much positive about the Cops but they're out there for some reason.

Your 11.8 et is not unrealistic at all. In fact I think it will go faster than that. My best is a 12.003 and thats at 2500ft. My 10psi pulley only gives me about 8.5psi at this alt and Im dynoing less than you. Keep us posted on your runs when you do them.

I dont see much of a reason to upgrade your COP's you should not have to do that. There are many cars making big power with stock COP's if you want them just for looks they might cause you more problems then good.
Good numbers, What size injectors and maf are you running and you are intercooled right? Sorry for the 20 questions just new here.
I think 12's should be easy maybe even high 11's depending on how your set up is. Might want to get some UCA's and I sure hope you dont plan on putting that stock clutch through that torture :) get your self a nice clutch if you have not all ready.
Every one seems to like the Spec's but I run MMR's RBT700 which has done me great so far.
Are you planning to take it to the track? If you can geta 1.7 or better 60 foot time, you should be able to coast to an 11 second pass. Well maybe not coast, but you won't have to powershift.
I read somewhere that cars see 1psi more boost on the dyno than on the street.

I've seen impressive numbers on F/I cars switching to 60,000 volt coils. Believe me, I know they can be a headache if you get a bad set (been there, done that), but I'm doing my homework and I hope to get a quality set of coils this time around.
I'm running 38 lb injectors, a 95mm MAF and an air to water intercooler.
You guys are getting my hopes up! I'd love to see 11's at the track, but I'm not gonna count my chickens before they hatch. Humidity in this area is often 100%, so I'll wait til fall before I start hunting the 11's. I have a good set of LCAs, but I've found a UCA to be a waste on the S197 personally. I'm already running a SPEC II that I broke in before installing the supercharger. If I could go back I'd have the McLeod twin disk.

I'll be taking it to the track after I finish buying a new house and going on a much needed vacation. Probably in June. I shouldn't have any problem hitting a 1.7 sec. 60 foot. I was already hitting that with the slicks when I was still naturally aspirated. My best time pre-whipple was a 12.8. Those M/T slicks are probably the best investment I've made after the whipple.

Great numbers. Where did you go for the tune?

We were at No Problem friday, you could cut the air with a knife. Look forward to seeing you at the track soon.
That's on the FRPP tune. Ran the car on the dyno for free in a yet-to-be-named shop in Chalmette. (Gotta love freebies!) Right now, there is no open shop in Chalmette. The St. Bernard parish council refused to approve a zoning change last month for the property they are located on. They insisted that the business owners immediately adjacent to the property come to the next council meeting to express their approval. Sounds like bureaucratic BS to me, but if all goes well, there will be a shop in Chalmette again soon.
I'm sure I'll run into you at NPR eventually. I just hope I don't end up next to you so I get shown up on my youtube vids, lol.

I think in another thread it was one of the last of the first generation whipples? Nine -quick question what degree timing is your tune at now? Just curious ... I have the first gen whipple and running about 10.7 boost and 11.5 A/F at WOT and at 6000 rpms I was at 10.9 (pig rich) yeilding 454 RWHP in 93 degree heat and 60+ humidity in september. I had to get it retuned because of sputter on startup (only while cold) and the dyno at 69 degrees and 30% humidity yeilded 465 RWHP and the torque stayed the same at 440 RWTQ. I attribute that to the heavy 20's and the totally stock driveline. This year is the year of supproting mods like the 8-rib belt kit and thumper tensioner, one piece DS, new motor mounts and McLeod twin disk....than back to the dyno and she what happens.... (hopefully no "boom") J

Did you get the second generation whipple?
Yes, it was the second to last 1st Gen shipped by whipple. I cannot recall exactly what my timing was set at. I'll have to get it from the computer when I go back on the 17th. All my info is saved, so I'll just have to look it up. My air/fuel stayed fairly steady at about 11.2 to 11.3, which is still to rich for me. I probably made slightly more boost than you due to my being at sea level. I already have the one piece driveshaft and a SPEC II, which may have attributed to my higher-than-average numbers. If you dynoed on those 20s, then you could probably have hit 5-10 more HP with a set of 17s. I'm also interested in the Thumper tensioner. I saw a picture of it on another forum and it is beautiful. Where can I buy it??

I am pretty sure Adam at ST makes one too. CK recommended it, said it was a little cheaper as well.
Maybe we should try to get a group buy on the ST, or Thumper tensioners, I will go in on it. I am sure with all the Whipple's going in lately we could get quite a few. Any interest?

I've seen Adam's frankentensioner as well as thumper's tensioner in pics, and thumper's tensioner is infinitely more aesthetically pleasing (nothing against Adam's). I'd be down for a thumper group buy if anyone can tell me where to buy it, lol.
