I am neutral on the subject I've never smoked it and don't plan on it. I was just wondering why is it illegal? Is the only reason because it's considered a gateway drug? I understand that it alters your state of mind and driving but so does alcohol. It also raises your risk of cancer too but, so does tobacco.

I am sorry, but I believe in freedom. I think anyone should be allowed to do something IN THEIR OWN HOME that does not harm someone else. Until their smoking marijuana directly affects you (like driving high, that is just stupid. Treat it like a DWI) you should A) not care and B) let them do their own thing.
