Well I'm 17 ands I have a white 07 ford mustang "pony package" and I want to get a new muffler for my v6. Getting a new muffler, does it affect warranty?
I want to stay single for now and my budget is around 300$. I really need some help, should I buy it online or at a pep boy store? What would you recommend me buying for a good sound? How big does the muffler have to be to sit the v6 2.5 inch or 3? All advice is appreciated. If anyone can post a link of the muffler they suggest will get a reward. =)

I just put a GT takeoff on my car until I upgraded to a dual exhaust, not the loudest, but had a nice deep sound. Don't worry about your warranty, it won't affect it.

at 17 you should not even consider getting married.
Sorry, this one was dangling and I couldn't resist.
I've helped a friend slap on a GT takeoff onto his daughter's sixer. It was cheap, went right on, sounds better and supposedly gives better mpg and performance as it is less restrictive

slight increase i power as well. cant wait to get my AFE intake soon.
and the dealer told me that the only thing that affects warranty is a tune, plain and simple. even the ford racing tune (which isn't that great anyways)

easy on the wallet as well. 100 bucks for the muffler from dealership, 45 installation at a reputable muffler shop (dealer charges 80 for installation)
I wouldn't spend the full $300 thats for sure. Buy a GT takeoff if you really want it right now and save the rest for duals because you're going to want those eventually.
def go with ebay or craigslist maybe... if you want to go duals in the future, you might find a great deal on two gt takeoffs... i got both of mine for 40 bucks... DO NOT pay someone to put it on.. its one bolt and it slides off... the hardest part is sliding it into the hangers.. 30 min tops.... use the extra money to get an intake or a tune or even some appearance mods... good luck!

I'm going to get in trouble for this because I think I am the only one on this site that likes MAC Mufflers GO MAC for this reason SOUND at 17 you and all the kids at school will love the sound. People pull up next to me all the time and ask What you got in that thing? The look on there face is cool when I tell them it's a V6. http://www.v6mustangstuff.com/05V6Exhaust.htm
Check out the MRT AeroTurbine. Do a search on you tube for som sound clips. It is loud. Drones on the highway a bit but sounds great. You can get it from mrt-direct.com for about $250.

I just won a set of GT take offs on ebay for 5 dollars plus the 40 for shipping but if you ask me, a set of fairly new gt take offs for 45 bucks aint bad. They come with both but I will just use the one for now.
Are they bolt on or do I need to get them welded on?

I scored a set of gt take-off mufflers from an 08 off ebay with less than 500 miles on them for 60 shipped. As I've read here that the ones you want are the 7849-R stamped mufflers as they come from the manual gt cars......mine did come from a manual car and sound pretty darm sweet even on a v6 car. I wanted something with a little better sound to it as well as a possible power/fuel mileage gain as a side benefit but nothing to loud as with a convertable a loud droning exhaust would kind of suck. The whole transformation took about 30 minutes and as mentioned before the stock muffler hangers are the biggest problem to remove....the muffler is a one bolt/clamp to remove and you're good to go.
Bottom line I'm real pleased with the gt muffler swap and would recomend it to anyone with a v6 looking to add a little rumble to the exhaust without spending a whole lot of cash up front. If you decide to go with duals later you can either use the gt take offs or decide on something else and sell off the stock gt's on ebay....it's a win win.

I agree with these guys, buy the GT takeoff mufflers until you can save your $$ for duals. I have Pypes X-pipe, mid pipe with two GT Mufflers. It's not that loud, but it does give the car a little more rumble.
