Im currently installing my steeda udp and I cant get the crank pully off. I have removed the bolt and washer and placed the 3 prong pully puller on and cranked on that with all my might! The only thing I can think of is maybe another washer??? Also in my frustration in giving up defeat and get a real mechanic to do it I stripped the treads of my crank bolt. So my plan is as follows get a new bolt from ford tomorrow and chase the treads with a tap and a oil change. Ok so questions are
1 how the F#&K do I get that pully off.
2 will chaseing the treads and flushing the oil get rid of the debris and possible shavings
3 in my cranking on the breaker bar i think i rotated the crank without the belt in place, will that affect the timming of the motor in anyway?
4 how bad did I really mess this up?
any and all assistance is much appreciated
Mike

its a real pain in the butt. i had to get both 3 prong pullers and use the center of the big one and the shorter arms of the small one. then wedge a socket in between the puller bolt and the center part of pulley. also wedge a large screw driver on the frame below and into the center arm of the pulley to keep it from turning. then crank away. its tough but it worked for me. i turned my crank several times and it did not mess my timing up. ford dealership here wanted $360 to change it. my way didnt cost me very little. give it a shot. good luck.

Yeah mine was tough to get off too...it came off though, I recall tapping it lightly and pulling at the same time...

Timing is controlled by chains inside the engine; the serpentine belt just runs the water pump, alternator, A/C, power adder, etc.

If you think that was hard, try putting some headers on your car. Glad to see you got it resolved, though.
