I am not arguing for one side or the other. All I am saying that there is not a major difference between a stock ls1 and the stock 3v 4.6 and it would come down to the driver, that's all.
Those of us that actually go the track know better than to think a LS1 is a 13.7 car. Plese refrain from being a magazine racer. TommyV8 who is a member of this very forum has run a I beleive a 13.3 in his bone stock LS1 Camaro.

keyword

Listen numbnuts, I said BELEIVE because I am not sure if it was his car or his g/f's, they both have LS1's. Your not going to win this argument, you might as well start researching REAL WORLD TIMES, not magazine BS times.

There are a handful of drivers who have piloted stock LS1 F bods to high 12's iirc(I could be wrong on this). No way a stock 3V is going to do that unless it's going downhill with a tailwind. I(and others here) still say pushrods>OHC because the money is better spent elswhere in engine development, and the LSx has proven that repeatedly over the last 10 years or so.

I'm curious though why some people always want to compare the LS1 to 4.6's an 5.0s. Wouldn't a more fair comparison be an LS1 vs a 347 or a 351W or a 5.4?

i don't think many people would want to compare an LS1 to a truck motor

Ford offered the 351W(5.8L) in the 95 Cobra R. And though it was primarily a truck engine in production form, there are a lot of built up 351W's out there that are easily a match for equally built LS1's. I think Ford was dumb to not offer it in more Mustangs, but they prolly had their reasons.

Okay, yes I am an LS1 owner. I have a z28. I understand the fact that the camaro's didn't out sell the mustang, but I don't really care about non of that. What I care about is the fact that my camaro with LT's, SLP lid will dog walk a 2005+ Mustang gt, even the 360hp Shelby with similar mods. I like the mustang, but the performance is suffering. So I bought a GT for my girlfriend. What mods respond well to the 3 valve, and how much horsepower does the stock clutch hold. I currently have LT's powerflo-x exhaust, CAI, and a custom Diablo tune. Any suggestions

Well First of all there is no 360 hp shelby
if you mean the Cobra..390 hp..i doubt you can walk one
and by Shleby, if you meant the 500 hp one..haha

oh and a stock 3v's cluth will strain with a supercharger.

the 3v responds well to all mods really.
CAI and Tune are good for about 25 RWHP+
Plus header and you got 300RWHP..or close to it.

You've just had an unsmooth moment.

Keystone light... Always smooth, even when yooooooou're not.

BTW, I think some of you are forgetting the 351 was originally in Mustangs back in the 60s. Check yourself on the "truck motor" comment.

Can't we all appreciate Muscle?  I guess I'm not oldschool like all you guys, but what's happening is a Civil war.  Camaro vs Mustang nonsense.  I don't know what the OP said really, but are we fogetting about K20 and B16 motors?  Those are the bad guys!  Wait till F&F4, we will be overrun!

Agreed.
You see a Corvette, Chevelle, Camaro, Monte Carlo, Impala, G8, etc. give a wave and respect the american muscle.
You see a Dodge...Just laugh and keep on drivin'

Is dodge that bad?  I think the charger/challenger were awesome cars.  Even nowadays I'd love a 4 door srt8 charger.

If it wasn't for 3 reasons, I'd love Dodge, I might even be driving one right now.

1) Dodge uses fake Hemi engines. Ex. the 340ci Ram 1500 engine has 340 hp....that's 'horsepower per cubic inch' in a pushrod engine, they've been doing that for decades, I believe the Corvette Stingray with a 350 is the first to do it. Wheres the Hemi power?
2) Dodge uses Body on Frame instead of Unibody for their sports cars...Thats why they're soo heavy...They also have no crumble zone, which is a safety feature for Unibody style vehicles. Heavy + Unsafe = Fail for Sports Cars.
3) I've owned a 1996 Dodge Neon before...and I can't count the numbers of problems that damn thing gave me on three hands.

Other than those 3 beefs..They're ok.

Sorry dude, Stock 03 cobra I can beat, not walk. I'm talking about a 1/2 car. But the Shelby GT I can walk. And yes I agree... haha when it comes to the 500hp Shelby. Thanks for the info.
