My third brake light is all scratched up. I was just wondering if this is a common problem. Anybody know the cause of this?

This definately is a common thing. I had it happen to mine and seen it on a ton of other mustangs. I am considering buying a new LED brake light. But until then I just used a can of Dupli Color Gloss Black paint, taped off the light area, and painted it black. Looks nice as hell actually and with the MUSTANG decal I put on it it looks like new.

Yeah, I did the 'rattle can resto' on mine as well (and polished the end with some compound & a buffer).  Definitely shows age unless you do some touchup ...

If you use the headlight renewal method it can come out pretty all over again. Just make sure you remove it from the trunk.
