Ok I am going to tell you now, If your trying not to bust the bank a 351w isn't for you. Thats is just a stock rebuilt non-roller 351w. That means you need to add heads, intake, fuel system, oil pan, exhaust, ignition, aftermarket cam, roller lifters (If going roller).......... the list goes on. So thats $900 plus shipping. Thats a 9:1 compression engine. Also someone please explain how a stock rebuild shortblock makes 390hp??? What heads/intake/cam/fuel system is that using?

Just my opinion!

I never said your a newb to the mustang world. But thats still not going to keep you o nthe budget side of things. Whats heads, intake, cam..... Are you going to put on it. An average 351w build would be $4000-5000. Mine will total over $6500. I even bought my stroker kit SUPER cheap. A resonable set of heads:$1500-2000, intake: $200-600, Carb/fuelie stuff: $500-1000, Oil pan: $250, valve covers, quality gaskets....the list goes on.

390HP is acheivable, butI just don't understand why they would advertise it on there. Especially if someone was to use stock parts, they do mention that its 9:1 with the stock heads.

Also what is your budget?

no on the ebay short block. Where do they get off saying a 390 hp short block, thats just dumb. It a short block its pretty much capable of any number at that point. Save your money go to a junk yard pick up a engine and go to fordstrokers for a kit or just reuse the stock crank and rods

i dont really have a budget... im dumping all the money i make into this car basically, i sold my cobra so i have a couple thousand sitting in the bank. I know heads, and all that are expensive, im not planning on a cheap engine and plan on doing it right, i just was wondering if anyone had ever bought/would buy that short block cause i wanted a good starting point, and didnt want to do a stroker right off the bat

The seller's feedback looks good. I would do the upgrades the seller offers if ya can afford it.

Note: All short blocks are not complete and will need lifters, headers, intake system or carburetor, heads, timing chain bolt and cover, frontal accessories, oil pump, pick up tube, and oil pan.
**390+HP was with a HOLLEY SysteMax II System with different camshaft and sufficient induction. Your engine combination will vary from ours so as will your horsepower ratings. Understand your "HP" may be more or less depending on your choice of parts you add to your short block.**

The notes said what they used to achieve those numbers, but why limit yourself with an otherwise stock rebuilt 351? find a good used 1 and stroke it, then getas big of a head(TFS High port, TFS R,or Yates.)as ur budget can afford, solid roller, and go upset some ZO6 owners.
