Hey everyone. Today I started working on putting underbody neons on a 95 mustang GT and i ran into a little trouble. Has anyone in here installed these before? ID so, how did you do the front so the bulbs dont show. Also, what do you use to drill thrrough the steel reinforcment? Thanks for any input

Whats the big deal about putting neons on a mustang? how does that make it rice? My car isnt imported. Ther is nothin wrong with adding a little show with the go.
Okay, I can see a little show w/the go, BUT let's talk about the "go." What have you done to your car that will enable to you fight off those who will instantly challenge you, because they think you have no clue what to do to a muscle car. I've seen some decent neons, but the ONLY neons I lilke are the ones that match the cars paint job, & are used on Stangs that leave trails of rubber a mile long.

This is the appearance board too...nothing in his thread was performance orientated.. it'll save some bandwidth by simply passing by this thread if it's something you dis-approve of and have no advice to offer.

no wonder stangs don't get all the respect they deserve. you guys are too busy bashing on other stang owners. so what if the guy wants to put neons under his car. personally, i've had a few neon kits...even way before it was in fast n furious. did that make me a ricer? f*ck no! i just wanted to stand out from the crowd. i'm trying to bridge the gap between the traditionalists and gen y. i've got a '96 gt w/ headers, bassani x-pipe w/o cats, and spintech race mufflers. i'm currently working on getting it to breathe better along with a new torque converter, gears, nitrous, and other goodies. i'll be more than capable of taking on the sti or evo. do i hate em? no. i respect them. on the same note, i also have a body kit coming in w/ lambo style doors and yes...altezzas. i'll probably never get respect from either the domestics or imports. so what? y'all are just a bunch of haters.
sorry for the novel but this has got to stop.
btw, i stuffed the front tube at the very rear of the front bumper. if you're car's even a bit lowered, you shouldn't be able to see the neon tube.

I agree with big, the car is red and the neons are red. Im not goin with "all show and no go" Im going to do a carbon fiber hood and underbody neons. And i dotn care what the world thinks bout carbon fiber, it takes down weight and looks awesome. But im not going to rice it out just neons look cool on the snow. For all the rednecks in here that think the only "apperance" style upgrade we should do is to make my car sound like a damn truck, F*ck off. Ther are plenty of performance that will come when i get a job to afford it. But BACK to the topic, if anyone else has felt the way that i did and put some neons on, Some real advice would be nice. Thanks
mom = African American, & Native American [Blackfoot]
Dad = German, Philipino
Therefore Gixxer MUST BE A REDNECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Acutally, more like a mixed blood smart @$$ w/a fast car, & faster bike!!!!!!!!!!!
My current external modifications = Eibach Pro-kit 1.5in drop, UPR SS rear bumper inserts, 15% tint all around.
Soon to have in the garage = Mach 1 chin spoiler, 17in Chrome rims (either Saleen, or a Cobra R of some type).
Truthfully, I thought about those clear taillights for a while until I saw how GAY they looked on my Satin Silver Stang. They might be okay on a red V6, or a Black Stang, because the ride setup might inhance the look w/clear tailights.
As for the neons...I got away from that back in '98 when I graduated from high school. For the money you put into that kit, & tail lights, you could get a lowering kit, & work on some exhaust. But like I said before...your $$$. All the best in whatever you do.

expensive, for one im not thinkin bout european lights, second, my underglow kit was 50 bucks. Id say that im not wasting that much cash, and lowering it?? thats more expensive then doin this stuff and its pointless my car is low enough right now. Besides, that would never work in North dakota our roads suck.

Get off this guys ass for the underbody neons. If there was a neon to match the color of my GT, whenever I stroll to car shows I would certainly have them on just to attract more attention.

Neons = .. But this is just ME!
I'd recommend going to some of the general forums where they have technical advice on Neons.. My brother is a ricer..lol... Ohh well.....I'm sure you'll get better help than here..
Hey don't sweat it regarding these uptight guys who only bash on imports. Unfortunately any mod that is put on a stang that does not fully coincide with their ideas of what a mustang should be gets harassed.
Perhaps many of the people who think that doing anything like light mods, spoiler mods, body kits etc. is wrong on a stang and therefore "ricey" should define fully that a "ricer" is. I was under the impression that you pretty much had to own an import car to be one, but thats just me .
Check out the clear taillights thread I started as an example. Its not even altezza and thats what they called it. Shows how uneducated some of these people are.
I like neons on stangs, and I am sorry I can't help ya, perhaps another mustang forum would provide more assistance (and less aggravation).

Bigbadracer808 thank you, finaly someone gets it. WE ALL OWN STANGS. It doesnt matter if you have a classic 65, a 70 boat, 80 fox, or a new style pony... if you havent noticed they all say Mustang. Give the guy some respect. Someone may not like your style or your mods on your car, but it is your car. And think about it, you should thank him, he is experimenting so you dont have to. If it doesnt look good on his stang... than we know what not to do with ours. Just remember, when you bash someone's ideas, you kill their enthusiasm for Mustangs...
bak to his questions. i installed my neons just a month ago and it looks tyte. you just have to drill through the metal. however, just make sure it is safe for the drill bid to go through and find a place where the metal is thin. Try to get the neon as close to the ground as possible without showing the tub, so the lights will be stronger since it is closer to the ground.

Alright yah neons look ok sometimes and yah neons are made for showing but dont ruin your beautiful pony some loooks are nice like a saleen body kit or hood scoops but not neons u taken it to far i will and im allowed to voice my opinion on here yet he did not ask i still will say it if you want neons on any car get a honda civic two door or the king ricer stick with engine mods to your muscle car your not going to win a race with neons that will prolly break if u go over a big bump and smash the glass on them thats MY OPINION mustangforums37961.9987268519
my opinion is you need to learn to 1. write in complete thoughts 2. accept s**t. you being an asshole is not going to have an effect on his decision and it just makes you look like a closed-minded fool.
haha, my thoughts exactly. personally, i hate neons...but whatever, who cares, you're money. but what's this about 'making a stang sound like a truck' or whatever (posted by tyybo earlier). i hope you don't mean all stangs with big exhaust sound like trucks...because you are sadly mistaken. but if that's not what you meant...cool . sorry, i'm not too into the neon thing, so i can't help...but one site you may won't to try is onlineshowoff.com, they are more import oriented (not trying to say anything mean here, just saying it's more common among them.) anyway, good luck man.
