Ok well my front windshield is REALLY scratched up... When i face the sun there is all kinds of scratches that go the way the wipers go... and there are little specs all over it... This is when the glass is clean too.  i can only see the specs when facing the sun... is there anything i can do to get the scratches out or am i gonna have to buy a new one?

Probably have to buy a new one. I wonder if you got some fine grit under your wiper blades though which scratched it up...

I realize you said they are scratches, but is there a chance the marks along the wiper paths are residue from something they spread out and got sun-baked in? I had some sap on my windshield a while ago that wouldn't come off with anything other than a razor blade.

the specs are from tree sap that has dried to the windshield. and depending on if its scratched or not will depend on if u hav to get a new windshield, but for the sap if u catch it while its fresh its can be taken off with hot water and for the dried stuff there is some products out there u can get that will take it off but its time consuming

For those sort of sap specs, like I said use a razor blade, just like you were taking tint off, won't damage the glass and takes it right off no chemicals needed.

I do believe your car insurance covers one windshield a year.

If you were to get a small puck, like from a rock on the highway, you can have it replaced.
