It isn't free. You already paid for it by paying taxes. So all it is is you getting back 600 bucks you already gave up. So if you would have spent that 600 bucks originally on whatever you spending it on now, there you go. If you originally probably would have saved it or something, you should probably stick with that.
Actually I think you have that backwards. I believe the check we are recieving is an ADVANCE on next years taxes, IE; you will have to claim it as income on your 2008 returns and will end up recieving less taxes at the end of 2008. This rebate is different from the one a few years ago, that one was free, this one is just a loan.
You are correct I think, it comes out of 08 taxes, sorry.

I beleive you are right. It does not seem like it will affect your 2008 income or taxes. The only people it could affect are people who qualified for it in 2007, but their income/taxes change dramaticaly in 2008 and they would not have otherwise recieved it. It is an advance based on what you will pay in 2008, using your 2007 taxes, LOL, wow, our government is f'ed up, eh?

Ya, their giving us money to try and stimulate the economy, it was proposed by the Democratics yet thats all I hear crying about it blaming it on Bush... Everyone says it isnt free money but if you think about it, it kind of is, because its not like they do this every year so its not like their taking extra out of our taxes to pay for this unless they thought about doing this a couple years ago and started taking money then.... whatever it is, its money, shut up and spend it :D

I am not bitching about it. I am not crying about it, not whining about it. To YOU it may be free money, but someone paid for it. Standard re-distribution of wealth. I do not trust the government with money, that that is a whole lotta money they are just giving away. It will not help the economy the way they think it will, and depending on who is in the white house next year, they may just raise our taxes to get it back.

it's a bad thing because it's not free money, nor is it money that the government is not spending, rather it's money the government is spending (think welfare). it's MORE money our government is borrowing, which in turn is going to hurt the economy more, and kill the dollar more. you're going to pay it back plus interest, just like every other penny the government borrows. if it was money the government was saving because they lowered their spending, it would be different.

I prefer Binary Boy...j/k. I like how people post **** like " well its just means you will get less back next year". Know the facts before you speak, It seems the payments are going out earlier than forecasted. I hope mine gets here soon enough because I can then pick up my FRPP GTA's!
