Best part was I heard on the radio someone talking (Pelosi maybe?) and saying "Well, Americans will spend this money on gasoline, or on paying off credit cards or mortgages." Uhhh no. Many Americans will spend it on dumb stuff, and our economy won't feel a BIT of difference.

So, if every American dumps their money right back into the economy by buying products, how is that not stimulating the economy? I guess I wasn't aware that retail products aren't a part of the economy.

It isn't free. You already paid for it by paying taxes. So all it is is you getting back 600 bucks you already gave up. So if you would have spent that 600 bucks originally on whatever you spending it on now, there you go. If you originally probably would have saved it or something, you should probably stick with that.
