Anyone in the Chicagoland area, Westfeild Ford/Saleen in Hodgkins/lagrange is a new Authorized Saleen dealer. Taking my 05 s281 3v (2600 miles) to them on Monday to check out the rotors/pads. Will let you know how it goes. Dave in parts seem pretty knowlegdable over the phone but we'll see.
I assume you have the brake squeal? If so I took mine in for the same thing yesterday. I have heard on here that the updated rotors have black centers instead of silver (mine are silver) and while at the dealer yesterday I checked the new Saleens on the lot and they all had the black centered rotors. I made sure to point that out to the service advisor. Mine is squealing so bad now that I'm to embarrassed to drive it.
Yep, you are right on both counts. The black hat rotors will solve the problem, and it IS too emabarassing to drive when the squealing gets bad.
A lot of these service advisors don't work with Saleens enough to know how to save everybody time and energy and solve the problem right the first time. Make sure your advisor isn't reinventing the wheel (ha ha) by trying to solve this problem from scratch.
This problem is documented ad nauseum by both owners and Saleen, so he should just contact Saleen, explain that he has a car with the old squealing rotors, the problem has been proven to exist on your car, and the newer black hats are required. Good luck, you will like your car a whole lot better soon.
