You MUST be young if you think a big bottle of absolut will impress someone:)

Try Stoli Elite if you want an expensive bottle of vodka.

Well, yea, you should know that Ashram. [&:]

So no recommendations?

These people all drink pretty much dirty thirties, and super cheap stuff.

EDIT: How much?

you'd make me happy with Grey...or el patron gold or silver.

Grey Goose? Hennessey? Kind of depends on your audience.

If they're all middle-aged or older you'll need fancy scotch or something.

What exactly do you define as middle age??

be VERY VERY careful........

Hm, if they are young and drink cheaper liquor normally, a bottle of Grey Goose will go over just fine. Not too expensive, and a touch "fancier" than absolut.

LOL, I'm not even touching that.

Okay well, my take on the alcohol situation is, if they're all 12 year old kids, Smirnoff or Absolut or anything they've ever seen a TV commercial for will be fine.

If they're drinkers who normally only touch cheap crap (say they're from ages 16-30ish) Grey Goose or whatever for vodka, or a bottle of Hennessey will work nicely. It's not super fancy, but they're not super-refined drinkers and they're used to drinking lower end stuff, so it will still be impressive.

If you're talking about alcohol connoisseurs here, you're going to need to step it up and get into the fancy stuff. That's where the old scotch and high-end french wines come into play.

But I'm assuming you're talking about the younger crowd who drinks a lot of beer and cheaper alcohol, in which case a bottle of Grey Goose or Belvedere or Henny will be fine.

Cristal (like P Diddy drinks!) would probably impress as well, but that's like $350 a bottle. Grey Goose and Hennessey are also somewhat impressive at a much nicer $50 a bottle.

I really only know whiskeys and tequila....so lets get started:

Tequila: First one that comes to mind, and actually not allot of people drink it, is Patron. Make sure its SILVER Patron though, its the smoothest IMHO. Runs about, oh, $80 a bottle up here? Most people know what it is by now (damn rappers).

A big bottle of Jose Cuervo (black is my personal fav), should run about $55-70 depending on the size of the bottle.

Whiskey: Ahhhhhh whiskey. Whiskey gets more expensive (usually) the more it is aged, a personally aged whiskey of mine is Knob Creek, which is aged 9 years. At all the bars I go to, a shot of Creek is usually $9, I haven't bought a bottle in years, but its upwards of $70.

Being so close to Canada, I like Crown Royal. Crown Royal Special Reserve for ME anyway, tastes exactly the same as regular crown, just a touch smoother. A 350 ml bottle will set you back $25. Yup. Think they're about $100 for a liter.

I know next to nothing about gin, vodka, and shnappes.

Captain Morgan Private Stock FTMFW!!

Or go get some Patron Silver. If you are getting Hennessy you have to get Hypnotic so you can make incredible hulk's. Also go get Jager and Red Bull so you can make Jager Bombs, no matter what "class" you are shooting for everybody likes them.

Grey Goose is perfectly good. Throw it in the freezer and let it get nice and cold.

At the person asking about me; I don't really drink often, but when I do I can drink most things, usually on the cheaper side (or at least not on the high end side.) I normally go with Grey Goose, but tonight is trusty old Absolut. I don't know a ton about booze.

Now dope is another matter.

Vodka sucks. You should have gone with some Knob Creek, Woodford Reserve or Four Roses.

Vodka is real easy to hide in mixers.

I love Jack and Coke, as cheesy as it sounds... very easy to drink.

Woof, a bit drunk right now actually, typiong is hard:)

Yea but I'm in high school so we just do shots and I can't stand shots of vodka.

i really don't see how anyone could hate vodka... you'd pretty much have to hate water

anyway, if you really wanna impress someone with whiskey

Ice cold grey goose [:'(](rubbing alcohol)...chilled is nice.

want a party drink? Absolute peach and cranberry juice (taste like cherry kool-aid; give it a test run)

+1 for incredible hulk, mix it right ...OMG [&:][sm=happy046.gif]

+1 for patron silver, better have some pitch-ins
throw some 151 in there some where [sm=badbadbad.gif]

If you would want to impress me, have a bartendermake drinks [8D]

Couple questions: whos the audience? and how many?

*sigh* So many misconeptions

Vodka-- Grey Goose is good, Ciroc is better for the price, lots of good ones out there

Amaretto-- Try Lazaroni...it ismuch better than Disaronnoor go with Gran Marnier instead

Scotch-- Johnny Blue is waay over rated, Try Lagavulin or Glenmorangie Sherry Cask

Tequila-- yep, Patron is excellent, there are lots of really good Tequilas out there now

Rum-- yep, I love Captain's special reserve

Gin-- I was introduced to Hendrick's from Scotland which is truly exceptional
Boodles is another good one.....I like Tinis [8D]

Bourbon-- again there are lots of new good ones on the market, I love Maker's Mark

Cognac-- forget it, a good bottle is way too expensive Hine is great for the price

Makers Mark is one of my favorites too okbfd, I was wondering if anyone was going to say that. Crown is probably my favorite drink to keep around the house. Patron is the ONLY tequila I will drink. The rest of the stuff usualy depends. I don't drink much vodka, but when I do it's usually either Grey Goose or Belvedere. And Rum... I don't know, I like Rum but I don't have a favorite brand. The Captain is pretty cheap and usually good enough for me.

Makers Mark, Frangelica (haven't had this in AGES), used to drink Black Haus in high school (YUCK), Absoluts ok, just that everyone drinks it.

As far as beer goes, if im going cheap, Blue all day. However, Heiny is good too. But my fav, is most definately Oktoberfest from Sam Adams, and if its not the end of summer, a Boston Lager is also amazing.

these forums get really embarrassing when it comes to alcohol. such fine taste in cars, such poor taste in alcohol.. nice bottles, i hear dissarono? absolut? OKBFD seems to be the only one who has any idea what the hell is going on, although grey goose actually tastes like **** and you are paying more for the bottle than anything.

What would you suggest then, if you are as much of an alcohol connoisseur as you say. [8D]

Don't forget that 90% of the people in OT are under 21, and have little experience in this matter.

+1 its weird though, once you start drinking some better vodka with a little bit more punch to it, stuff like grey gooose, skyy, smirinoff and things of that sort dont even compare, they just dont do it for me anymore.
