Any new news on the 2009 Stangs?

Cassies01GT -> Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/25/2008 2:32:15 PM)

All Im seeing still is speculation on what engines will be offered.

Is there an update anywhere that says defintely what engine will be in the base and GT models?

Plus any clue on if they are going to offer the mach 1 for 09?

Joolander -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/25/2008 2:34:31 PM)

the 09 stangs will continue in the current body style

the 2010 stangs will be the redesigned ones and its still anybodys guess at this point

though i heard they may offer a Boss 302 (5.0) for the next model that is basically a stroked 4.6

Nice. I guess we've kinda know about this design for a while. To me it looks exactly like this drawing.

I like it. I really didn't see a 6.2 V8 though, this is a surprise for me. I was hoping for a 5.0 (Not that I'll be able to afford one anyway, School budget FTL). Not complaining either way. Looks like the 4.0 V6 and the 4.6L V8 are going to stay unchanged? However, the SOHC 6.2 won't come til 2011...

fordsbestcar -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/27/2008 11:10:07 AM)

why are they switching to such a big displacement? the 5.0 cammer would have sufficed.

blazingV8 -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/27/2008 11:11:38 AM)

man all i know is im getting that thing

Perhaps to make power the old fashioned way so they can keep the price down? I dunno, with gas prices the way they are a 6.2 may be short lived...

i like how the turn signals are in the headlight, other than that.. not a huge fan of the front end on that stang.

mustangcrazy87 -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/27/2008 8:50:59 PM)

i really want them to bring back the old school tail lights from the 67 and 68s!

scg87 -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/27/2008 9:10:14 PM)

That car looks a million times better than the current one...

blazingV8 -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/27/2008 10:46:18 PM)

i agree on that one. i luv that car. hopefully we can get some power in there cuz im tired of loving a car that everyone calls a weak musclecar.

Burtonsnow157 -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/28/2008 1:03:26 PM)

its in car and drivers issue this month on the exact details, i got the issue in the mail today there are 3 engines available by 2011

1.) 4.0L V6
2.) 4.6L V8 - same as the gt's of today
3.) 6.2L V8 (potential of over 400hp stock) - it doesnt make it totally clear but it makes it sound like this will be an optional engine in the 2011 GT trim level

chriswells78 -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/28/2008 4:42:43 PM)

I like it.  I may be torn in 2011 between a stang or a Falcon...(if they actually bring it here?)

fordsbestcar -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/28/2008 8:01:10 PM)

i doubt they would bring the Falcon here, but if they do that would be amazing. if they do it prob won't be as good as the australian version. they need to replace the 4.0 with the 3.5, better gas more power. 6.2 is bad idea but i guess their bored and wanna go out with a bang before the V8's start to disappear from production cars.

I'm not super crazy about the wheels, but that's an easy fix.

I would be more convinced if the wheel was already on the other side.

Needs duals but again, that is an easy fix.

Elwood -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/28/2008 8:45:51 PM)

^ I want it

Anywho the 6.2 is probably Ford trying to out do the new Camaro (6.0) and Challenger (6.1) At least they are smart enough to keep the 4.6. I hope they bump the power in it a bit though, even to 325. As far as the 3.5 replacing the 4.0, I'd say they are probably going to leave it alone to keep the costs down. 4.0 isn't a bad engine, it's just old school tech is all. Haven't heard any modified 3.5 exhausts, but IMO the 4.0 sounds better for a Mustang due to it being a truck engine.

fordsbestcar -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/29/2008 11:44:12 AM)

it may sound better but they need to get more power out of it.

nineinchnail1024 -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/29/2008 5:56:34 PM)

I don't trust car and driver. They have a tendency to publish the latest rumors as facts and then politely apologize for it when they don't come to light.

Burtonsnow157 -> RE: Any new news on the 2009 Stangs? (4/29/2008 8:36:42 PM)

ive noticed that too sometimes, but they have like a real life picture of the 2010 stang
