It is very loud under heavy throttle, but can be VERY QUIET when coasting by the Staties...

SOHCman, thank you for your reply. The Pypes system sounds great!
For me, to get the second Borla muffler, the midpipe and X pipe to go dual, it would cost me over $400. This means I should go ahead and just order the Pypes catback dual from one of the internet companies for less than $400.
My question: Did you (or anyone with Pypes) have fitting and alignment issues with the installation?
Thanks!

I have the system in my sig, no fit problems at all. Lined up great. I like the tone with the GT mufflers, it's not the loudest, but it doesn't get rhaspy.

No problems with fit or finish.
Only 1 problem I had was after 40,000 miles on them (11 months to the day)I broke the passenger side "X" pipe mounting rod off at 100+...
Just kinda "rattled" the weld right out of the little bugger and left a hole in the pipe. Sounded like RICE!
And yes, I did say 40,000 miles in 11 months... she has 88,000 miles on her since 4/5/06...
My club is aptly named, don't ya think?

I hear ya!
When the Pypes are cold, they SCREAM LIKE BANSHEES if you get on it!
Haven't got an accurate dB reading when cold, but its enough toscare the Timber Wolves around here.
:D

PS: My GT mufflers are still in box... LOL... "Just in case"...

88,000 miles?! That's great! I'm really glad to hear a higher mileage Mustang. Any issue with the car?
I've concluded that the Pypes are the ones. Thank you.

As for the car... I broke the little plastic cover on the trunk lid... and the CD doesn't always eject...
I really can't complain...
I will definitely buy another one... especially when they release a retro version of the 1969 mach 1 with curvy rear fenders.

JBA true duals w/ H pipe Been on the car going on two years. Still sound great. No problems. No leaks or rattles.

I'm a big believer in the H-Pipe if you want a deeper sound. As far as louder, I wouldn't say that it is night and day but it's kinda like going from mono to stereo speakers. There's really kind of a tradeoff though, you're either going to get a loud sound or a deep sound, or something in-between. I didn't care how loud my car was as long as it sounded deep and even. Good luck on it.

Wait, is this retro really in the works, or are you just pulling my leg?

i have a single flowmaster 40 series and it sounds louder and richwer than the local v6s with duals. i want duals but im worried that it will kill the sound. the people around here all bought different kits online. and i dont want to buy any kit cuz i think my single will sound better. so im thinking of going to a shop and telling them to fabricate one with another flowmaster. does anyone on here have fabricated dual systems, and do they sound just as good.

Ya, they won't do anything THAT cool...
Although the twin turbo V6 sounds nice...
I've never had a problem lovin' my V6... and 35MPG would be great for commuting...

To those who have the PYPES dual system installed, did it come with a template for the bumper cut-out?
If not, then how did you all cut the rear bumper to fit the second pipe?
Thanks! (I'm ordering the Pype system next week!)

The template should be online...
Right off their homepage under instructions, down the bottom.
The GT bumper cutouts look better with the Pypes 4" tips.
Stock 2.5" tips look enemic in those giant holes.

I have a race pro single axleback from Pypes, it's pretty loud and "pops" when it's cold. Once it warms up it has a decent tone, and the popping stops. My neighbors want me to move.....especially in the winter months. I imagine 2 mufflers would sound deeper......but still loud.

My pleasure,
Make sure to post some videos of your new Pypes.
Make sure the guy from the muffler shop is videoing YOU as you turn the key for the first time...
The expression on your face will be priceless.
The sound out of a little V6 is nothing short of amazing...
I had a crowd of about 10 people around my stang when I got it back from the dealer.
About 4 mechanics stayed AFTER 5pm to hear it, and some saleguys and a few customers.
That was before the SOHC V6 plates, so I had 2 guys ask how I liked my GT...

I know what you're talkin' about!
Once I got on my pony when they were still cold and had to back out as my back end fishtailed on the dirt.
The pipes let out such a huge booooom I thought I ripped the guts out of my mufflers!
The echo across the meadow sounded like a freakin' howitzer!
Haven't done that again... no damage to the mufflers either...
