Hey ya'll
First time poster trying to figure out what mustang I want to  buy when I get the truck paid off.  I would love an terminator, but man those prices are a little steep yet.

My question is how different are the 2001 vs 2003 4v's?  Can you put a blower from an terminator on an 2001?

Before you ask...I did search...gave up after 45 minutes

There is quite a bit of difference between the 99-01 and the 03-04 Cobras. Of course the most noticable ones are the eaton sitting on top, a few suspension changes, and some exterior differences. (and the price)
As for which one to go with, it depends what you wanna do with it. If you plan on rebuilding everything slowly anyways, i'd say stick with the 01 and save some cash for mods. But if your goin to be rolling stock for awhile and just put minor things into her, maybe you should consider the 03-04. Either way, you wont be dissapointed, especially switching from a truck. Good Luck

Does the 03,04 eaton fit on the 2001 cobra?  Seems that you can get them pretty cheap...and if can mate them I can have a fire breathing dragon for 10k less

No it is not a direct fit at all.  You have to be like $4k of parts from the 03 Cobra for it to work.  Also, it is not a great supercharger, thus causing a lot of heat.  You can buy a better aftermarket one made for the 01 Cobra cheaper.  Also, with an 03 Cobra, you can spend maybe $400 and have 460rwhp, would take like $4k or more to do that with an 01 Cobra.  Also, the 03 Cobra has a built engine, being able to take 800rwhp with a good tune.  You can not go past maybe 460rwhp with an 01 Cobra before you have to build the engine.

I was hoping that since they were the same block that they were built the same way...guess I was wrong on that!  I had heard that the eaton was on the bottom of the barrel for superchargers, but I noticed I could pick one up on ebay pretty cheap...so i got excited to mate the two together.  I know I need to do the smart think and just buy the terminator...I am getting excited about getting a stang I have wanted one for years...I just can't get rid of the truck so I am just going to have to own both.

theres a dude on another forum of mine. with 3800 bucks in parts that gets like 461whp. tell me where you can get that power without nitrous for that cheap.    your nuts if you think an aftermarket is cheaper..... kenne bell's are 6500.

although the eaton may not be the best. its the cheapest. and the 03/03 has 8.5:1 compression and the 01 has 9.5:1. so you are making more HP with the same boost levels.  Now the 03/04 does have Manley H beams and forged pistons stock. With the higher compression of the stock 01, the eaton will get hotter and start to loose its efficiency. then you need to upgrade to whipple of kenne bell.

You can get the Paxton chargers, for like $4k.  The Eaton sucks and gets REALLY hot really fast.

eatons make good power on the 2001 cobras right out of the box, due to the bump in compression...  but who knows for how long... stock rods dont like boost + a lot of heat....

i would just do a procharger or kb, but to each, his own...

Is a stock lower intake the same from a 99 - 01 vs. an 03 - 04?

So an 03 lower won't bolt on an 01 without modifications?

There are a couple of threads in here with the exact list of parts you need to put the 03/04 blower on the 99/01 cars. Parts list was up over $6000 to do it correctly.

Actually, they aren't the same block. Terminators have iron blocks. Previous 4V Cobras have aluminum blocks.

I put a 2.93 upper and idler, intake and exhaust and a good tune and she was getting hott as hell. I bought an AFCO dual pass heat exchanger for it and now i can put my hand on the blower after running it hard without it being real hott. i put down about 445 horse on the dyno. As far as 99-01 my buddy had an 01 with a vortech s-trim on it making about 8 lbs. boost and blew that bitch up in 3 months, the rods on the pistons broke and shattered cause there built poorly

Some say a ported eaton with pulley works ok?  I'm wondering because I just picked up an 03 repo and it's missing the supercharger.  I spotted a ported and polished eaton with a 2.76 pulley on it.  Do you think this pulley is too small in regards to heat?

keep the stock pulley on. use porting to get more power and less heat out of the eaton. the soft internals of our engines cannot handle the extra boost or heat.

im just about finished with the swap on my mach 1.

for the lower intake to fit you have to grind the knock sensor bosses off your block. then it drops right into place. but this isnt just swap intakes deal. theres ALOT more work involed.

i have about 7k in my swap. (including my 01 front end and all aftermarket items)
