How many cubic inches?

phunnyguy -> How many cubic inches? (4/24/2008 8:33:14 PM)

someone asked me this the other day and i didnt know and felt like an idiot...

so i will throw it out there....

how many cubic inches are the

v6?

v8?

cobra?

i know its a 4.0 liter engine....though not too up on what that means....are we 3 valve too????  dont know exactly what that would mean....

its like this i know about cars and i really know about computers....so im trying to even the two out if you willl...im not stupid...just trying to learn....when i was young i wanted to know how computers work in all thier complexity....so while i know about engines...my knowledge here is ...well average.....this would include brake and suspension complexities as welll.... how it all works and what not.....and example would be i know about alternators...but have no idea what a solenoid does....but i know its important in a car...heh....for instance i know what you stroke and bore, but i dont get the numbers end of it, and the physics behind it.....

i wanna get my learn on!

i show my car occasionally, and i want to be able to speak with some more than average knowledge  if you will...i understand many of the principles behind performance mods....like cai and tune, superchargers and turbos....but i thirsting for how it all works and what some of the terms mean etc....

thanks and please be nice im trying to learn something new here....

and to those who choose to field this one....i will be sure to have more specific questions based on answers....

thanks!

v6? - 245

v8? - 281

cobra? - 330

forumula - Bore x Bore x Stroke x # of Cylinders x .7854 = CID

also i don't mean to ignore the rest of the post and i applaud anyone trying to learn more about their stang and what the numbers really mean (as im trying to do the same thing) but ive been up for 18 hours and my brain stopped working some time ago. [8D]

I think the 4.0 is a 245 c.i. ? I cant remember and am too laxy to look it up.

The 4.0 is also a 2 valve engine, one intake and one exhaust.

The 3 valve means there are 1 tiny intake valve and  1 big one and 1 exhaust.

I think anyhow.

Your on the wrong web page buddy. It's called wikipedia, it's the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject. So you know you are getting the best possible information.

And just use some conversion tool to find out that stuff

type in "4 liters -> cubic inches" in google...

I've got a question along these same lines. I know the Gt's uses the coil on the spark plug where the six uses plug wires. I see the wires go to a box, is that box basically the same as the coil on the GT? What are the plus's and minus's of each set up?

boss 244 -> RE: How many cubic inches? (4/25/2008 6:33:02 AM)

If you actually measure the bore and stroke the motor works out to 244.6 CI.  The motor was designed in germany, to the metric system, so it won't convert exactly to CI

If you just base it on Volume;

1 Liter = 61.024 Cubic Inches
4 Liter = 244.095 Cubic Inches
