I have allstate its considered at Gt, but allstate knows the value of the car so its going to be expensive anyways unless your older than 40+ with a perfect driving record. am only 23
It comes up as a GT, get GAP coverage with your insurance, that way if anything happens your loan will be paid in full. GAP costs about $2 a month, so it's worth it. I have American Family Insurance and am 33, its $77/month with full coverage (100/300/100) and a $500 deductible.
i got a 07 SGT, 04 Lightning, and 06 Yamaha R1 and i pay $102 a month, (not to shabby for 23 yr old, single male) full coverage on all through Geico. email me for details on how to get some more off with special licences too.

Your statement "but allstate knows the value of the car so its going to be expensive" is an absolute falsehood. AllState can't use the fact that it is "a Shelby" to boost your insurance rate up higher than what you would pay as any 23 year-old person would for an off-the-lot GT. And if they are then you really need to find a better insurance company.
The Shelby GT VIN's out as a Mustang GT and that is the sum extent that you need to provide (the VIN number only) to an insurance company when getting it insured. If the owner wants to go on and blow their mouth off to boast to the insurance company that it is "a Shelby" (ooooooo wow!!!) then they are an idiot that person needs to learn when to speak up and when to just shut up.
And the insurance company covering a claim is bound to restore the car to the original condition immediately prior to the incident causing the claim. So whether it has special fascia pieces or suspensions as SHelby GT's do have, the insurance comapny has to replace them with the same parts...they can't just turn it back into a pre-Shelby "off-the-lot" Mustang GT.

My insurance actually went down when I bought my 2008 SGT. I had a 04 GT that I traded in for the 08 and it went down about $10 a month. And I'm only 28.
My o8 GT is $10 more a month than my 96 g20...with State Farm..but when I called the insurance company they told me I need to tell them of any mod's I do if I want them to replace them in a claim...also My g/f was hit head on by a drunk driver 4/22..she is going to be ok but if you have Farm Bureau...they are real jacka..es when it comes time to pay...so if you have them CHANGE!!!
Yeah, I agree. If you're dumb enough to tell them it's a Shelby instead of telling them it's a Mustang and giving them the vin number, you deserve whatever you get. :)
Believe it or not my Ins. is less on the GT500 than it was on the Bullitt!
The Shelby GT is insured as a GT with the Shelby Package just like any other package, It is still a GT...........

If YOU make mods to the car then that might be true. However, the mods that Shelby does makes the car "Shelby" stock and that is what you bought and received temporary title on. So if an accident occurs they have to rebuild the car as it was at the time you bought it minus any wear and tear you caused while it was in your possession before the accident.
You still may get a fight on this when you make a claim buy I would then just turn it over to a lawyer.
switching from my 05 gt to my 08 gt500 with Geico my insurance only went up $20 per month...$465 per 6 months for 05 gt $577 for GT500...as far as gap insurance: I agree and disagree.....gap insurance is great IF you did not put a large enough downpayment (Usually anything less than 10%) or if you are stretching your loan over a longer period of time with a higher interest rate....I did not have GAP on my 05 gt and will not on my GT500...then again..I also had 30% down payment on both of them....my 2 cents

i know this is late but since there are not to many new threads i figured i throw my insurance in here too, my monthly bill for insurance was 130 bucks every month with my 07 mustang gt, i traded in and got a 2008 gt500 and called today to insure the car.....thinking the worse.... i ask the damage i done, they tell me... well sir, your insurance just went up a whooping 6 buck...... i didnt ask any questions besides making sure all my coverage is the same, but omg was i shocked, i was expecting over a grand increase.... im 25 btw.

I''ve got a Shelby GT and my insurance is $615 for 6 months. Not bad for LA, CA. I was suprised of how low it was. I''m 27 also with a clean driving record.

The insurance company''s take a number of factors into account when they give you a quote (much more than just your age). They go by demographics as well, and let''s face it, the Shelby owner demographic is made up of a more "mature" persuasion. That right there = lower insurance rates (much like corvettes), simply because the majority of these cars are not receiving a ton of moving violations, nor getting wrecked. GT quotes are higher, because the majority of GT owners are young people.
I''ve had my 07 V6 for a while now.... and it wasn''t too expensive to insure... and then my dad bought a Shelby GT500 and insured me on it as well so I can drive it when I want....what I remember is that the insurance barely went up....we have Geico
