so im on the florida turnpike and notice a grabber orange v6 behind me. it had the pp grill, rockers, front and rear bumper but i noticed that he put GT emblems on the side[:'(] why do people pretend they have a GT? are our 6's that embarrassing to drive around? I love telling people its a 6 when they ask cause then they give me this weird wtf look which is quite amusing

i dont mind the gt emblems on the fenders on the GT but the rear trunk emblem should def be the 6 one with the running horse not the GT... not retro

GT emblems belong on GTs and nothing else.
Might as well put a Chevy Emblem on there.
Makes the same sense.

Cobras on Cobras.
Shelbys on Shelbys.
Saleens on Saleens.
Roushes on Roushes.

I like the clean look. No fake plastic hood scoop, no plastic rear wing, no stinkin badges, no tape or stickers. Just clean. I have since taken the dealer sticker off too. And it doesn't hurt that we don't have to have a front plate.

Not sure why people put GT badges on their 6'ers, i guess they're not proud of what they have...

next time just flag the guy down and ask him yourself;)

i'm sure he'll give you some decent response

you know its one thing to make a clone...im not against that at all..because most clones have the funk under the hood to back it up.....

if i had a gt i would switch to the pony fender emblems anyways cause i like em better...same with the gas cap.....

so having said that here is a story proud sixers will appreciate....

lady on a smokin harley pulled up next to me today and said i had a mustang like yours but it wasnt a gt.....

i quickly corrected her that i was a six.....she said but you have dual exhaust...i said yeah...i liked the sound and look of them.....

the lesson ....never judge a book by its cover....i also have seen some though very few gts with the pp grill....i have had many gt owners ask me if it would fit thier car, but it wont fit the gt bumper...you have to switch it to the 6 as it is a little smaller i think....as is the pp grill.....

and i have no problem telling folks im a sixer,....hopefully one day a supercharged sixer....until then im saving for my short throw, cai and tune.....i like being the underdog....

Aint nothing wrong with a sixer stang. I think they are pretty respectable for what they are. Back on topic, I guess it's for the gt look and respect, for the same reason some of the gt guys slap cobra emblems all over their car. Plus it lets your buddies brag about beating a gt (or cobra). Supercharge that six and make some of the gt guys go crazy!!! Another thing - just about every kid on the road wants to race a "gt", so be prepared to hammer your gas mileage.

must remove......uhgh lead from foot......want to fill up once a week.....uhgh cant help myself.....uhgh she is so sexy....LOL....

maybe the letters "GT" are the guy's initials? ;) :D

hehe, just playing.
Other people should be able to do what they want (as long as its not illegal or disrespectful) with their property because in the end, they are the ones that pay the bills. If slapping GT badges on their cars make them happy, then why not let them do it?
its just like asking why a white person would wear rocawear or something. is he a poser for dressing like black people?

i agree with you 100% but if your gonna do that much like clone....i would hope you got the guts (performance to back it up).....as far as true clone go...i havent seen one that wouldnt bury the real thing....my 2 cents.....

There is a guy on another forum who is doing just that with his GT. Taking off the rocker panels, GT emblems, front fascia, '07+ rear spoiler to make it look like a V6. I Like this idea and would probably have done the same if I have purchased a GT. I bought the Pony Package because I thought it looks better.

+1.....i still don't understand either. everyone i've met who knows stangs knows that mine is a sixer regardless of my exhaust. they were able to guess right that its custom. people who weren't too familiar with stangs have asked me if it was the V8 and this was before my exhaust and wheels. go figure.

IMO, clone cars = rice. Sure, that's the owner's right to do so, but I think it's tacky. However, I've seen tribute cars that I would love to have in my garage (an S197 that's badged as a Mach I is a tribute car, cuz Ford never built one). I recently saw a BEAUTIFUL triple-black 2007 (fake) Shelby GT500 that was truly stunning. The only thing that gave it away was the auto tranny. As nice as it was, I wouldn't want it cuz it was a fake. But as long as the owner is happy, then I guess that's all that matters.

I like the clean look more now, but I'll still roll with the pony emblems on the sides on mine. I know where a guy parks a V6 every day with everything changed to GT except the front bumper+grill. I find it odd to see anyway. And yeah I agree that GT emblem on the rear is pretty ugly. The ones on the sides are fine though. I kinda wish they would've kept more of the concept car's logos.

I dunno, why do GT owners measure manhood by how many cylinders they have? Mustang owners are fairly representative of the population at large. Most are reasonable thoughtful people and some are receiving life instructions thru their foil helmet/CAI mass air flow sensor. :D

Sleeper V6 = very cool
GT badges on V6 = very NOT cool.

well how do you know its a V6??? ive seen a guy that has the pony package grill because they didnt like the big fog lights and wanted to keep the retro look...he even changed the GT trunk badge cuz he didnt like it and had the pony emblem instead....and i actually looked at his engine and it was a V8

+ 1 pretty much the same here...it really boils down to personalizing....i try to take the attitude that....if you like it that is what matters....for instance i like stripes...but i like em on other peoples cars....

and im all about slowly being that sleeper....just gonna take some dough and patience...

but yes peeps who know stangs know im a six right off...those unfamiliar ask or often assume im a gt through no fault of thier own, i dont expect everyone to be a mustang junkie.....i mean i know older years and stuff too....but im a fiend for stangs....

what irks me is when someone who doesnt know stangs asks if its a gt and when i tell em no..they say something to the effect of the following:

them:"you got the girls car!"
me: "really? what kind of mustang do you have?":)
them:"i dont have one"[:o]
me:"well then i guess were done talking about mustangs then arent we?";)

of course i only use this response when the comment is meant to insultme or the person seems to want to talk a good game about stangs and somehow put me down for whatever reasonand really doesnt know anything cars and basically trying to put me down.....ya know?

if thier nice about it, i will let them hear her a little and reply with...."does that sound like a girls car?" and when i leave i dont necesarily squirrel it, or peel out, but i let em hear that 6 power....

viperrmk
04-25-2008, 05:23 PM
I have never really understood that as well. Why people put different emblems on there cars. Like V6's putting GT emblems on or GT's putting cobra emblems on....it just never made sense to me.

I've had a lot of people think my car was a GT....even other GT owners at the track ask if it was a GT. I tell them nope and the lok on there face is priceless and then they walk around to the back or I open the hood and they are like ohhh it is a 6.

"well, it's an 05 mustang"

Was having an 02 sensor replaced at the stealership today, and they pulled out an 07 PP from the service garage, looked real clean, tinted windows, hood scoop, upgraded wheels. So I walked around it to check it out and it had a GT Faux gas cap. So I looked to see if it was a maybe a sleeper GT, but it wasn't, still had the single exhaust.

I dunno, the car looked real good, but that gas cap just looked out of place.
