View Full Version : what's a good bycicle
simpsonfan13 04-24-2008, 01:32 PM well since my parents took my sixer to mejico (yea, i spelt it with a j instead
of you'r precious x, take that you damn gringos:D;):))
and my fox is in dry dock, ive taken to riding my bicycle.
the same one i had since i was 12[8D]
now im in the mood for a better one.
ill mostly be riding around town so i dont need a bmx bike or anything,
i just want a good crusing bike (obviously that can take a pot hole or two though).
im willing to go into the $170 range.
any suggestions?
03_gt_woowee 04-24-2008, 01:34 PM get a huffy from walmart
bingo
Jugador 04-24-2008, 01:36 PM no **** some of the 200 dollar range wal mart bikesdon't look too crappy these days.
simpsonfan13 04-24-2008, 01:37 PM i thought of getting THIS ONE (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9207779)
last time i went and the ones @ my walmart are a really nice metalic brown too
i just dont know if its a quality bike or not
Jugador 04-24-2008, 01:40 PM hahaha we used to call those bikes "hoopties". im not even sure how that word is spelled. anyway, i would look for something with gears cause it sucks riding a direct drive bike and topping out. check out the "Next" bikes. i guess its the wal mart brand but they aren't half bad for the price.
03_gt_woowee 04-24-2008, 01:46 PM if you buy that bicycle be prepared to get your ass whipped
35thAnni99GT 04-24-2008, 01:48 PM beach cruiser yeah!

hmm didnt notice its not a gear bike.
the one i saw is.
and 03gt
im not worried about some trying to kick my ass cuz im an intewebz toughie;)
but a more... sporty bike MAY peak my interest.
anyone know of a good cheap mogoose model?
nseoi 04-24-2008, 03:17 PM if you want to stick to that price range i would recomend a $170ish mongoose from walmart i saw recently, its a fullsuspension mountainbike that will last u a good amount of time, even has front disc brake if im not mistaken.
i have beaten the living hell outa my mongoose for the last 5 or 6 years on the street, mountain bike trails, i even rode that bitch from miami to naples on a 10.5 hr trip last year. best bang-for-the-buck bike out there, mine cost me like $250 back then.
im getting into serious mountain biking lately so i want to upgrade to something lighter but i really love my bike
simpsonfan13 04-24-2008, 03:35 PM do you have a model # by any chance?

My friend at work has this one ^
Seems to like it alright.
dubarado 04-24-2008, 03:56 PM for what you want you can def. get a nice comfort bike... a little bit more practical then that beach cruiser... but not as extreme as a road bike or MTB.
jamis makes a bangin comfort bike.... google the jamis explorer.http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/bikes/08_bikes/images/08_bike_images/08_EXPLORER3_WH.jpg

(twirls mustache)
that bike is nice but way outa my price range. ima just go to bike shop and see what they have.
dubarado 04-24-2008, 04:00 PM yea... that's what I'd do... I worked at a bike shop... so of course I must say SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHOPS!!!
they offer hook-ups, and the quality is MUCH better than walmart....

nseoi 04-24-2008, 04:18 PM bike shops are AWESOME if you know what you need and have a big wallet
but under $200 you are stuck at walmart or sports authority. deff get a mongoose if this is where you shop
stay away from roadmasters, they are WEAK, the components are crapily made
NEXT bikes and a step up from roadmasters but still bleh
huffy, havnt seen one in a long time, for adults at least
wantamustang 04-24-2008, 05:01 PM Buy a Norco, great prices and great quality.
fastbackford351 04-24-2008, 06:20 PM Damn Gringos huh?
Will you be needing to outfit this bike pontoons or outriggers on this bicycle so that you may traverse a river?[8D]
brian1570 04-24-2008, 06:24 PM dude bmx style or dirt racing style FTW, u can whip those things around like no other...especially the dirt racers, they r so light u dont need gears. i was thinkin about buying one to get back in shape and ride a few miles everyday.
