Default ** HELP** 94 Vert - Drivers Seat Problem.

*** Repost, does no one know how to help me here?****

Hey all,

94 Vert, sitting for a while. Window in back has leak and lots of water sat for a while inside car. Caused many problems. One of which is:

Trying to replace the carpet and need to remove drivers seat. Front bolts came out no problem. Rear bolts are a problem because when the top leaked, lots of little rust happened, and now the drivers seat won't move forward. It tries, but doesn't move. Sprayed with Wd40, tried working it, nothing. It won't move at all, which means the wd40 or other lubes won't work.

There is a 6 point star bolt on the outside of the mechanism (T35 I think). If I unscrew that, will it move the seat forward, or mess something up? How else am I supposed to move the seat forward to get to the rear bolts????

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Jay

Sounds like the gears in the seatslider may have broken or striped.
No it won't help. seams to me you have 2 chioces.
1. get lots of PB blaster and spray the 2 bolts that hold the seat to the fram(spray from under the car also) and try to take them out with a boxed wrench.
2. from under the car drill out the 2 bolts that hold the seat fram to the fram.

can you hear the motor working? my drivers seat is like that. it just sounds like the motor is working really slowly, but i can push forward on the seat and it will move a little. or you can take ewgoetz's advice and get a box wrench and try and get it out. is the actual bolt rusted? or just the seat mechanisms so it wont move forward?

Thanks guys,

I just worked and worked and finally was able to fit a ratchet wrench (15mm) into the slot and SLOWLY get it out. Took forever, but it works. I am going to just replace the whole seat. Found a guy to sell me one for $50 bucks. Is that a good deal for a 94 tan seat with power?

Thanks,

Jay
