I know there is an audio forum, but I kind of got used to everyone in here, and also this is where all of the Saleen, Roush, and special edition people look anyway. Just curious if anyone put the new Kenwood DNX8120 in their 05+ yet? Mine is coming in today. I am wondering if anyone had any problems, or can let me know if there is any kind of tips with the install. If not, I will be the guinea pig, and let you all know how it goes. The unit seems amazing. I cannot wait for it to get here........

Well, I was going to install it last night, but my daughter kept bothering me. I have since called a local installer, and he is doing it for 125.00. I figure for that price, I might as well let him do it. Really simple install too. I previously worked for a major installer (17 years ago!!!). Newer head units go right in now with harnesses, and everything else. Anyway, I cannot wait to see it. I will post some pics when I get it back....

Well, if anyone is interested. The DNX8120 is in. The thing is amazing. However, one of the main reasons I picked this one was it's IPOD operation (amazing, and fast), and it's built in bluetooth. As luck has it, I have a Blackberry pearl, and am having a problem. Of course I called Kenwood, and they just found this problem, and are working on it. I have to wait for a fix now. Problem is only with Blackberrys! I will get some pics if anyone cares to see some.

I was looking to do this one listed below. I just Googled yours and watched a youtube on the Kenwood, very nice. The OEM is not available to next month. The Kenwood is suppose to open garage doors too. That I like. Where did you get? I saw a price at $1079.00? http://www.oeradio.com/product_FD-3401N.html#

I bought it from Sonix Electronix. I paid 1299. You can find it cheaper, but I do not trust a lot of those "other" places. I have heard horror stories. Sonix is still cheap, and extremely reliable. I did a ton of investigating before deciding where to get it from. As for the Garage door opener, I do not quite get that part yet. There are two wires that come with the unit that can control outside stuff (garage door etc.), but they requires some type of relay or something. I did not feel like bothering with it. The IPOD interface is amazing. As mentioned, if you have a Blackberry device, the bluetooth is not working yet. They are working on fixing it now as they just found out about this. I am sure it will be fixed quickly. As of now, I am loving the unit!

Hi, I have a few questions on this unit, my first one is do you know if this will work with the factory ford speakers, ie mach460 or 1000, also does this have navigation in it?

Yes it has navigation. I had a shaker 500, and I know it works with that. I did not change anything but the head unti. I would bet anything you can do the same. If you call Sonix Electronics, they will answer anything questions you may have. They seem to really know what they are talking about.

Do you have to pay any extra or suscribe to any thing for the NAVI? Is this headunit the one that shows the gauges in it? I think i saw one that did that, like a digital speedo and so on.

You do not pay any fees for Navigation. You have nothing to pay for at all unless you get satelite radio. As for the guages, the Pioneer Avic Z2 (new Z3) have the guages. I did a heavy comparison, and decided to go with this unit. I like that the Bluetooth is built in, and the IPOD controls are far superior, and faster. Also, the Kenwood uses Garmin as it's navigation system which I have not had a problem with in years so far. You can see how fast you are going in the navigaiton if you have no destination set, but there are no guages.

ORIGINAL: Saleen05797 Garage door opener...? I said the same thing when I read this. There are two wires that conntect to the back of the radion that can be used to control relays that do other things. I really did not look into it yet, but garage door opener is one of them for sure. "It also features two switches or relays for controlling external devices, such as a garage door opener, security gates or home lighting systems."
