I've noticed on quite a few threads about wanting to fight a ticket, but not really sure how.
The
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, or
MUTCD defines the standards used by road managers nationwide to install and maintain traffic control devices on all streets and highways
Here is the link to the traffic guide lines
MUTCD
This site basically tells you the standards of traffic signs, pavement markings, what each color stands for.
It goes for streets and highways but does notapply toprivate streets.
Though if you have a ticket violation on anything private, I encourage you to look up the ordinance through the city that which you live in.
In example: I got a trespassing ticket on an abandon Wal-mart parking lot. I could not use MUTCD to fight the ticket with because it was on private property. "There was an issue on visibility with the No Tresspassing signs and not being posted up at the entrances." So I looked upthe orinance on my cities website and sure enough the statement of the ordinance was in my favor to fight it. I also took pictures of the area and had them developedto have proof.
note: do notuse a digital camera. It is not applicable in court.
So to make a long story short. I stated my case and won.
Please take a look at this site. This site also has a discussion area and will answer any questions you may have.
Also using this is not a gurantee that you would actually win your ticket but, some information to use if you are thinking about fighting a ticket.
Edit: Who Uses the MUTCD? And How?
