I just ordered Bamachips 87 performance and 91 and 93 race tunes (after running the SCT tunes for a year or so)!  How long does it normally take Doug to get them out to you?  I'm so excited!

Although I'm not in a big rush, because Edge Racing has been taking their time on my wheel/tire order so I'll still be on the winter tires until Monday at the earliest.  I'll give you guys the full story and some photos when I get the new wheels on.

I've got one other little update that is a sad story with a good ending, but I'm too lazy upload pics right now so you guys will have to wait. :)

Alright, I got unlazy.  Here's the mishap:

Someone pulled a hit and run on me with the most god-awful colored car ever.  I'm at school in a small town, so I figured I see him around, but no luck so far.  I'm keeping my eyes open.  Anyways, I took this opportunity to upgrade:

Overdue update-

Doug's 93 Race tune is awesome!  Nice crisp throttle response, and it finally feels like the throttle closes immediately after I let off the pedal!  The power somes on nice and smooth.  Plus, the car no longer idles at 2,000 RPM after cold start; it spikes up when you start it and falls right down to idle.  The 91 race tune was somewhat noticeable over the 87 SCT tune, and Doug's 87 Performance tune was also slightly better but not very noticeable.

Now for the Edge Racing story... I ordered Sunday night, May 6.  By the next Wedsnesday I still hadn't heard anything, so I gave them a call.  Apparently they had to order the wheels in from the supplier and they wouldn't be in until the next Wedsnesday at the earliest.  All the while their website said "In stock, ships within 24 hours."  Lame.  I said okay and then called them next week to have them hold the shipment a few more days until the next Monday so that they would go on my next credit card statement.  Monday night rolls around, no word on shipping.  Call them Tuesday morning and I'm told they are being shipped today (Tuesday) and they should arrive by the end of the week.  Of course, Friday rolls around, no go, and they finally arrive on the next Monday, 22 days after I ordered them.  I go to put them on (and get my destroyed snow tires off) and of course the lug nuts they sent are too short to use the stock lug wrench on them.  I hunted around for some longer nuts to no avail.  Apparently no one expects someone to walk in wanting to buy 20 lug nuts.  As a last ditch effort I went to the shop for my Formula SAE team and borrowed a socket and torque wrench, and luckily the socket was small enough to fit into the wells in the wheels.  Miserable experience, but the result was definitely worth it:

I went the cheap route and bought Nexen N3000s from Edge with the wheels.  $96 per tire, 340 treadwear, and they seem reasonably sticky.  When I buy a set of dedicated race wheels I'll plunk down for good rubber.

Thanks to Texotic for letting me steal his wheels.  They actually are a little darker than the stock gray (not silver) 17" Bullitts that were on the early years.  Please, no comments about needing to drop it; if anyone wants to contribute to the BlackBetty lowering fund I accept Paypal.

Did you order the intake along with the flash tuner from Doug? How long did it take from ordering to receiving your order?

did you end up getting the gunmetal? those look a lot darker than mine. sorry to hear about the poor experience... when i ordered mine i told them i needed them in 6 days. they didn't have any in stock so they had the wheels shipped straight from their supplier's warehouse and they actually got here a day early. i didn't order tires from them though, just the rims. maybe the mounting and balancing is what took more time? don't know... it definitely shouldn't have taken 22 days, that's for damn sure.

looks good, man!

Scotts, I had previously ordered the JLT with the generic SCT tunes, and I ordered the tune files later.  I think I placed the order Thursday morning and when I got home around 9 on Friday they were in my inbox.

Tex- Yeah, I went with the gunmetal.  I'm very happy with the color.  Like I said, they're a little darker in person.  I had them delay a few days on purpose but I wish the communication had been better.  If I hadn't called who knows when I would've heard anything.

whtcan- Just have someone rearend you and then run around with a nasty gash in your bumper for a few weeks and then you can get reamed out buying the CS bumper.

i don't think they look too stock myself. they look like a more modern take on the classic bullitt design without being over done.

sorry about the crappy lighting.

I agree with Tex.  I would like some really light wheels for autocrosses/track days, but as far as appearance goes I think the 5 spoke/Bullitt design is what these cars were meant for.  They are nice clean looking wheels that actually look very aggressive in person.  They're just kind of hard to photograph.

BTW, I can't imagine putting 20's on this car.  I've seen pictures of 20's, and they look great, but when I first put these 18's on I thought the car looked a little blingin'!
