Just got back from the track testing out my Steeda CAI and custome 93 tune. Below is my best from tonight and my best from last year (1st time ever).

          CAI/tune         Stock
R/T         .256              .993
60'        2.121             2.224
330       5.883             6.149
1/8       8.946             9.359
MPH      80.29             76.83
1000     11.574           12.105
1/4       13.802           14.471
MPH     100.83             94.46

I really need some tires and suspension parts to help with that 60' time!

Scott

Must be nice to be able to go to a track during the week, out here its only on the weekends

I can give you a sneak peek as your time progression is eerily similiar to what mine has steadily gone down, gears/dragradials/control arms you should get down to 13.3 at least and 1.9 60fts, you have better air and 93 octane so maybe even lower, let us know !!

Good luck

Nice driving. Picked up alot from a few simple mods. Work that sixty foot down a little more and you'll really be on to something.

I still say CAI is a waste of money other than to impress your less knowlegable friends. My best at Milan last Wed was 13.69 and I run right around there all day. Sorry guys, just my opinion.

PS good job getting the ET down though

Nice time with just a tune. But did you know that a few bone stock S197 owners have reported running lower times than yours? The lowest time I've seen is in the 13.3-13.4 range. And yes, that's on stock tires.
Hence, stating that a CAI is a waste of money because your "tune only" S197 ran a 13.69 as compared to the OP's "CAI + tune" 13.80 run is exactly what you say it is....an opinion, and nothing more, simply due to the numerous variables(which I'm sure you're aware of) that have an effect on 1/4 mile times, e.g., driving experience & talent, track prep, DA, differences in initial stock engine torques and hp's due to manufacturing and assembling tolerances, etc.

Put it in the 12's without the CAI and we will listen Buster.

Seriously the intake duct is only worth 1-3 rwhp so something like the VMP/Half intake would be a good choice.
Its only about $60 more than the tuner alone.

The real issue with the stock intake is not the MAF size in my opinion but the tiny little hole of the air inlet.
If you cut out the bottom of the air box you would see most of the gains in my opinion.
This would be akin to the Silencer Removal Trick we used on 5.0's.

That is a HUGE improvement for an air intake and a tune; atmospherice conditions have to have played a part.

of course

It's perfectly acceptable for you to say it's "just my opinion" when you have an unsubstantiated belief that an automotive performance product is a waste of money. It's simply what you feel about the product, and nobody can deny you the right to express your feelings.
However, in the same breath you attempted to stealthily substantiate your belief by including your personal data("My best at Milan last Wed was 13.69") as a comparison of your car's performance to the OP's performance(13.80) regarding the non-use and use, respectively, of the product. And since that changed your comment from an opinion into an assertion, I felt that I had to explain the difference in my previous post. But you evidently did not read between the lines.

+1

I think you can have alot of fun at the track with just
CAI/tune and drag radials.  Beat any stock GTs at the track

That was all I'm saying, not trying to insult anybody, and dropping my time by 1/2 second with a CAI?
